I had surgery on my leg, rendering the leg swollen, painful and useless, and there's nothing I can do for months until the healing is completed. The problem is that I was incapable of getting out of a car, no matter what I did (and no, I'm not fat - well, my leg is. It feels like I've got a side of beef tied to the trunk of my body.)
I was trapped in my house until I did some research and bought two items: the Duro-Med swivel seat and the standers handy bar, both from Amazon. The swivel seat works like a dream. It makes it very easy to swing in and out of the car seat. The handy bar is a device that latches onto the metal loop on the car door frame. It provides an excellent way of pushing yourself off the car seat (just do a search and you can find it on amazon.) Between these two devices, I'm mobile again! I recommend both of them highly if you're looking for a way to get in and out of a car without using a belt and a fork lift!

Handy, can also be used on the seat of a dining room chair.
So it is easier to sit down and get up and around from sitting at the table.
