Designed with convenience and safety in mind, the quick release fold-down back allows the chair to fit compactly into small areas for storage and transport¿a significant advantage over heavy and cumbersome wheelchairs. Duro-Med chairs are constructed of durable, carbon steel for years of maintenance-free use. Comfortable, easy to clean padded nylon seat and seat backs are reinforced to prevent stretching or ripping. All Duro-Med transport chairs feature standard 8" mag-style wheels, removable, swing-away leg riggings, padded armrest, dual push to lock" wheel brakes and seat belts for improved patient comfort and safety. Additional safety features include loop lock hand brakes to aid caregiver in maintaining control of the chair while in use. Models including hand brakes enable the chair to be slowed or stopped while descending ramps or inclines, greatly reducing the risk of injury to both the patient and caregiver. Weight capacity 250 lbs.

The handles are poorly designed. They unfasten, but only drop down a few degrees, so the unfasten feature is of no use. A metal rod inside one of the handles broke when I was lifting the chair over a curb. I was very luckly my wife was not injured.

The reason I purchased this chair was because of the larger rear wheel. That part of the chair worked very well as comparied to chairs with smaller rear wheels on uneven surfaces.

This is by far the best transport chair available. Most transport chairs have smaller wheels making it difficult to go over cracks and uneven pavement. This chair has larger front and back wheels eliminating that problem. Overall the chair is constructed solidly with quality craftsmanship. There are many other chairs priced higher than this one, but for the price this is by far the best transport chair available!
