5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful if used correctly
This is a perfect brace for patellar tendonitis. Beyond that, ask your doctor if this knee brace is right for you. Different braces are designed to treat different injuries, so make sure you select the correct brace for the correct problem.

Bought this on strong recommendation of my physical therapist. It works, kind of OK, but it's hard to keep in place. Instead, I bought a similar product made by Pro-Tech, also available on Amazon. Works much better, and even looks better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A knee strap for some activities, October 23, 2010

I own at least 5 different knee straps. Once I figured out they help me, I set out to find the best one for the various activities I'm involved in.

The Cho-Pat is well made and I purchased it for use when it's very hot, or wet. Most straps are neoprene and can be hot when you are working hard. They also absorb water. The Cho-pat seems cooler to me, and works well when wet.

It costs more than other straps, and I prefer straps where the velcro folds back to provide a more secure hold.

However I'm happy with this strap for the specific times when I use it. If a strap helps with your knee pain, you should own several to find the one that works best for your knee and the activities you are performing. This strap is different from many others and worth trying out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!, November 23, 2008

This product works great, even though I ordered a size too big. Just be sure to measure correctly. Holds knee cap up and really helps relieve pain. Well made.

I bought this knee strap in the hopes that it would dramatically help my patellar tendonitis. While I can say that it has helped, it has not helped nearly as much as I had hoped. I was hoping that it would lessen my pain overall, but it really just lessens the pain when I wear it. Once I take it off, the pain is back. Don't buy this strap thinking it's going to be the magic solution to your knee problem. Rather, buy it if you want to help alleviate the "in the moment" pain you feel when you do whatever it is that bothers your knee - walking, jumping, running, etc. For long term relief, I would recommend physical therapy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Band-aid not Cure, July 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have worn Cho-Pat knee straps for years for both walking, hiking and jogging. I was told by my chiropractor that they help my knee caps to track properly during these types of exercises & thus prevent pain & injury while on the go. For the most part I have found this to be true. I am currently training to run a marathon & use my Cho-Pats faithfully, however, I've developed an IT Band problem which is affecting my right knee & the Cho-Pat strap is useless in helping pain prevention for this injury. Bottom line: They work great for some types of patellar pain but not so well for others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cho-Pat Saved my Marathon, March 14, 2009

New orthotics were thrashing my knees, just as my training was gearing up for Catalina Marathon. I thought I might have to skip it this year until my podiatrist, also a marathoner, recommended these simple little straps. I wore them with pants to work, etc., for a few days before I started running in them, to get used to the velcro thingies in the back. (It's a good idea to wear Body Glide under the velcro for long distance.) Wow, I continued my training without pain, and soon was running hills again. I finished my race without ANY knee inflammation!

I strongly recommend cho-pat knee strap, especially for gymnasts. I purchased it for my daughter who's a level 10 high competitive gymnast and has a knee problem. The strap has helped her through the tough routines. She uses it for vaulting and floor exercise and loves it. It's a great product!
