= Not even heavy enough to use to prop open a door (useless)

Just let me say this game has nothing to do with the movie. But that's not my gripe. Actually the story sounds like fun, you are a prisoner who is incarcerated on a huge ship that has been turned into a top security prison fast tracked for a death penalty. One night the security system goes haywire, opening the jail cells. You can escape, but first you have to mow down the rest of the prisoners, and staff, who have been turned into vampires.
Reading the blurb on the box is the best part of this game. I spent ...Australian on this, hoping that it would at least be fun. It wasn't.

Obviously, as often happens with game companies who buy the movie rights, Deamcatcher didn't have any money left over to actually enable them to make the game. But that's ok isn't it? After all, this is a cash cow for them. People like me will always buy the game because we liked the movie.

OK I'm trying to avoid describing the game play itself. Here it is - You are playing a game that is graphically worse than games made in the mid 90's (half life, for example, leaves it in the dust)You are playing third person (if first person even works, you will soon find it impossible) Your mouse is ultra sensitive. Move it left, and the game sways left rapidly and impossibly over-steps the mark (anyone who has actually "played" this game will know what I mean)You can't jump or crouch. You will find yourself "stepping through" the vampires (and walls, and pretty much anything else for that matter) instead of fighting them.

The level detail is nonexistent. A grey room is a square grey room. So much sameness that you are always lost. Backwards looks the same as forwards. There is no detail.

Characters all look the same. The lack of character detail is laughable.

Despite their being no detail, the game is often choppy.

So the graphics are horrible, and the controls are horrible. What of the sound? Well, it's just the same monotonous rubbish, sounds like someone screeching their fingernails down a blackboard when you open the game, then you forget about it (mercifully) because the music is set so low.

In-game sounds are awful.

You wince at the dialogue, where it makes sense (bad translation??) it is just plain stupid. Like "Lend me a hand, oh you don't have one" to a guy who's lost his arm. That sort of stupid. Other comments just don't make sense.

There are no movies at the end or start to set a mood. You are just plunged right into the...err...."action"

Hardly any guns, and they just plainly don't work correctly.

Why do you play games? For the challenge of finishing? There is no kudos in saying that you have finished "Dusk till Dawn" No incentive at all. That story-line just isn't there. It's boring, and trite. Game play is bad. Music is bad. What story there is bad.

Don't believe me? Well that's just my opinion. By all means, give it a go. For my money, that's the last Dreamcatcher game I buy.

New to games and want something better with first person shooter/adventure elements? Here's some suggestions -

Max Payne (FPS)
Serious Sam (FPS)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (FPS)
Longest Journey (adventure)

Unreal Tournament (FPS)
Quake (2&3 FPS)
Wheel Of Time (FPS)
System Shock
Theif 2
Unreal (FPS)
Half Life (FPS)
Deus Ex (FPS meets RPG)
Diablo (RPG)

I dont know what all the blubbering is about? But some of the people that i read the comments on this game need to get a life, & take a handfull of zanax.
CHILL OUT people some of you would not know a GOOD game if it bit you in your BUM.
SO its not perfect what is in this world today, you can buy this game at wal-'''' for 9.00 ,Ive got games that cost 80.00 + that have more problems than this & with all thier fixxes & patches they are still no good.
This game is about shoot em up blood gore cool effects its a lot of fun for 9.00
Sure their could be improvements but these games from DREAMCATCHER have been a real simple little pleasure to me in my life, the crystal key is the only one i can not get to work with xp.
I personally like the dream catcher games i have Santuary,Reserection, crystal key,Dusk Til dawn,& until they pull the sheet over my head I plan to buy many more.
Games like Dreamcatchers gives me a reason to keep on going on another day to keep building computers & playing games, like i said its a simple pleasure that is not a commodity for me anymore Im disabled & Dying of heart failure so these games dont tie me up for weeks at a time trying to complete them.
This Co. will Grow & improve with positive feedback not negative slams if you dont like their games DONT BUY THEM DUH !
bUT BY YOUR NEGATIVE INPUT YOU COULD & PROBABLY WILL STOP SOMEONE from buying it that might just like it , so just ease up on the game & have fun with it to the best of your ability.
Dreamcatcher i like your products so keep trucking.

TAZZ

5.0 out of 5 stars Thankyou Dreamcatcher................., July 29, 2002

So lets see if i get this straight,we're on a ship, a prison ship,I'm due to be executed , the Vampires intervine, not on my behalf, but i'll take it .
I read the earlier reviews and I stongly feel the double 1 from anne of ausrtalia is hurting this game. sounds like she got lost in the firefight repeatedly to me . This game has a slow motion feature with about 5 settings, this would of cleaned up her mouse complaint.the first setting is still pretty lively.
If anyone grew up watching horror flicks , Vampires we're always tough to kill.Intense creatures of the night ,roaming a ship you just happen to be stuck on .Throw in an assortment of weapons including exploding crossbow bolts, shotgun ,machine pistol,9mm ,flam.... you get the idea... but you have to find them.(sounds reasonable).
And I thought it looked cool when i fired a weapon and the walls took damage.Maybe Anne's graphics card is lame ? I also got good blood splatter? Heads exploding , an expletive or two thrown in to keep with the spirit of the game . I'm having a good time.True the bulkheads were in some instances repetitive, but its a ship, they are repetitive.
Lets see there's a sniper mode and a gattling gun mode.many different vamps with attitude to take you out.you'll need pure aggression to win the constant firefights.
I love the laser in third person veiw , this in itself is a challenge to master, throw in a little slow mo and your kleenin the bad guy's clock ,And the AI throws in some company to keep it interesting.
This game is just that ,if you can get into the new storyline, killing and staking Vamps , you'll have a blast .
