Saw this film for first time at The Maine International Film Festival and truly enjoyed it as did the audience. A story of a kind of friendship and loyalty that develops between two strangers. The director and actors did a wonderful job of showing the devotion of Duska to Bob and Bob's acceptance of Duska. It was done sometimes with a minimum of dialogue and yet it was always perfectly clear what and why it was happening.
It might be worth watching just to see 'the girl' played by Sylvia Hoeks. Whose beauty takes over your attention ( guess that's men) whenever she appears.
Nevertheless, the story and acting are the real reasons for viewing. At times Duska displays annoying, playful, sad, sincere and many other emotions and does it in a believable way.
In our lives all of us probably have met someone who reminds us of Duska or at least one or more of his behaviors.

The moral of this story is--if you give people your cards with your address on them you may get some unexpected visitors!! A Russian friend says you don't need 100 roubles if you have 100 cards of people you can stay with!! However, the visitors may show up at some times that you wish they had NOT! Like when he has finally gotten the pretty girl in his apartment after she's broken up with her loser boyfriend & in the mood to be Loved. A strange relationship develops between the 2 men but you have to see it to believe it! Does he ever get to sleep with Silvia--sure but again, just see it. It jumps back in time to the Russian festival where D & Bob meet but maybe just maybe he gets Silvia in the end? I hope so, it would be a great ending!
