A Rather Dry Subject,

This review is from: Dust Bowl: Men, Dirt and Depression (Hardcover)
Bonnifield's little known study of the Dust Bowl is a comprehensive, if a little dry, investigation of the counties making up the core of the High Plains drough in the 1930s. Some common myths are explored and often exploded. The author, who lived in the area while writing the book, used local sources, including extensive interviews. Nicely illustrated with photographs not seen in other works (again mostly of local origin). Anyone interested in the history of agriculture in the American west should be familiar with Bonnifield's work. |
