Product Description

Finally, cut wood in doors and on the job site. Simply install and hook up to a vacuum source. Adaptable to most saws as long as they have dust deflectors as a part of the fence.

I have a RIDGID sliding miter saw which as anyone knows, spews dust everywhere! Seeing a u-tube video about this product, I thought I'd give it a try. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to attach to the housing of my saw, a task that anyone would need to go through given the variations in saw housings. I ended up epoxying one of the velcro strips to the housing, and this worked quite well. In operation, the dust collector worked very well when I attached my standard shop vac to the dust port of my saw. I was quite impressed and willing to sing the praises of this product. There is a drawback, however. the adhesive strips that attach the velcro to the back of your saw table do not adhere for long. Even though cleaned it thoroughly and I keep my saw locked down to reduce the force on this joint, the adhesive failed after a month or so. I plan to epoxy the velcro to the back of the saw table to correct this issue. Performance 5 stars. Product workmanship 3 stars as the sewing is not very professional looking, but hey, it's a saw who cares how it looks. Product reliability 3 stars. Overall impression is 4 stars as the performance is very very good, and you don't need a huge dust collector behind your saw (compact). Anyone using a sliding miter saw will be able to epoxy the velcro down to keep it in working order.

installs easy, and so far has works very well. Better then anything I've tried so far. I might just start using my miter saw more now that I don't have the mess to clean up. I have been using my table saw with a cross cut sled just because it didn't make as much a mess as the chop saw did.

Was not easy to install, it came with very confusing instructions and tiny drawings. Does not perform as was stated, or what the Youtube video illustrated. A waste of $40.00 if you ask me. I followed the instructions as best as I could interpret, I sanded and cleaned the areas for the tape, and waited 24 hours without using the saw... the tape still came off, and now that I have used all the tape that was sent; I am left with either trying to manufacture a way to keep it in place, or discarding it all together. The product will most likely end up in the trash. Perhaps if you had a saw that never has been used it may stay in place. There are better things to do with the money you will save for not purchasing this item.

This product performs as advertised. Used with a dust collection system, virtually no dust on the saw or in your work area. Works with sliding, straight, miter or compound miter cuts.

I have a Delta compound miter saw with a 12" blade. It has always been one of the messiest tools in my shop. I tried a hood with a full Oneida system but it really did not work well. I opted for the this as a last resort. I am satisfied with the performance. It has improved. If you have worked wood for a while, you know there is no 100% dust collection. I have had Festool systems for about 8 years. I consider them the best but there is still dust gets kicked into the air.

I am not disappointed as it improves the dust collection. However, the problem I have had with it is that the self-adhesive velcro for attaching the top of chute pulls away from the tool occasionally. The Delta saw has a plastic spring adjusted guides that moves to accommodate taller boards against the fence. Even though I abraded the guide and used the alcohol swab for final prep, it still pulls away from the guide. It usually happens when cutting, so dust flies in the adhesive making it less sticky each time this happens. I may try to use a mechanical attachment to ensure it stops pulling loose.

The collector does not collect as much dust as I had hoped but does collect more than without. This could be a factor of the position of the vacuum intake on my saw. I want to add that the service was 5 star. I had a failure with my original install and they replaced the collector no questions asked. I would recommend this product.

Seems like a great idea and there is a great youtube video of this working superbly on a Makita saw (iirc). Does not really fit a Dewalt DW715 miter saw though. Had to make some modifications, but was never really a good fit. Eventually the adhesive failed (yes, I scuffed and cleaned the metal on the saw before applying). I guess I'll have to go back to using an old school hood.
