Enjoyable Read,
By
This review is from: Dust Devil (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my one and only book by Rebecca Brandewyne and I don't know why. I read this book a long time ago, but I still remember it. I love romances that start out with the main two characters meeting when they are young, then fall in love only to have circumstances tear them apart. Then reunite years later. Sarah is a very sweet and likeable herione and Renzo is a hottie from beginning to end. I just wish that Renzo wouldn't have found out he had a son by Sarah until later in the book. It was kind of like after you open up all your christmas presents the anticipation was gone, but I still recommend this book for hours of enjoyment.

A wonderful book...,

Book Description:
Years ago, their friendship had been private --- known only to themselves. Intense, passionate, dangerously good-looking, the only son of a small-time mobster gunned down on the mean streets of the big city, Renzo Cassavettes wouldn't have fit in Sarah Kincaid's world. But one sultry summer afternoon, while the honeysuckle had bloomed, Sarah had allowed the illegitimate boy from the wrong side of the tracks to make love to her, never dreaming that within hours, he would be accused of murder, fleeing from their small hometown, leaving her pregnant with his child. Now, like a dust devil blowing into the outwardly quiet town, Renzo is back, and his arrival proves a catalyst, reviving what had started so many years before. For there is a killer on the loose...and soon Sarah is swept into a whirlwind of danger. Which way could she turn? Was the man she loved a cold-blooded murderer playing some kind of diabolical game? Or was he the only port in the seething storm of deception and desire? * This was the first book that I've read from Rebecca Brandewyne & it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this book. This is a 470-page book that I read in just 2 days. I could not put it down for anything. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best books that I have ever read. I hope that Rebecca writes more stories like this one. This is one of those books that you can read over and over. I think the story is timeless and every time I read it, it captures my interest still. I found it very endearing. Enjoy!

Wonderful,

I dont know why the amazon synopsis says Renzo backhands his woman-he NEVER, ever hits her-he does come close when he first finds out that he has a son he never knew about, but that is only because of human emotions. He never hits her and feels extremely bad that he had even thought about it. Please dont judge Renzo and this wonderful story by the synopsis, Renzo really does love Sarah and always has ever since he left her years ago. Very much worth reading, especially if you're like me and cant get enough of 'bad boy outcast and lost love, found love' type story.

I can't believe it's out of print!,
This review is from: Dust Devil (Mass Market Paperback)
As someone who absolutely despises harlequin-like books, I found this book supremely enjoyable. I love alpha-male heroes, and while I would've liked Sarah to be a little more assertive it still managed to captivate me and force me to read on to the end without putting it down.
This was my first Rebecca Brandewyne book and I was so disappointed when I found out just how underrated she is as an author. I can't find her books anywhere. I've had to buy the best ones from used book vendors like alibris. Another of my favorites is Across a Starlit Sea, I don't like that one as much as this one, but it's still a favorite. They need to reissue these books or something because after letting my friends borrow these books they want to buy them too, but they can't find a copy anywhere, and I'm afraid if I let them borrow them again they'll "accidentally" go AWOL. To sum it all up, great book, great author, crappy publisher.

Enjoyable Book, 4.5 stars,
This review is from: Dust Devil (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my first book by Brandewyne... and I plan on reading more. I liked her writing style. It was easy to follow and descriptive, but it didn't bog me down with endless descriptions, etc. The storyline, dialogue, etc. was unique and interesting. There was a little suspense and mystery involved, and I didn't realize the "truth" until the very end. There was also at least one tear jerking scene. My only complaint is one of the "steamy" scenes seemed never ending... but other than that I really enjoyed this book.

Too dry...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dust Devil (Mass Market Paperback)
I found the characters to be very dry and mechanical, I did not come to like them. the hero is selfish and even though he was the one who left a dozen years ago, he manages to blame her for keeping his son a secret, well excuse me but you leave, you have no rights. I was looking forward to this book, but too predictable.
