5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Rock Having a Blast!
In an era of stagnant metal-rap-pop fusion, ACS issues a daring delivery of unique rock to wake up your zest for youth, life, and being able to hang loose again. I find myself smiling when listening to this album. The exploration of exotic sounds, the simple yet masterful bass guitar, and the pure sincerity in frontman Joe Reineke's lazy yet revved-up vocals makes...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Songs But Terrribly Over-Produced
To start this review, let me just say I don't think I've been so frustrated by a CD in a long time. Listening to this in the car, my moods variously swung between a desire to throw it out the window and that of really loving it. Let me explain why. Alien Crime Syndicate are an American band that have crossover appeal allover them (ala Weezer). Their songs are catchy...

In an era of stagnant metal-rap-pop fusion, ACS issues a daring delivery of unique rock to wake up your zest for youth, life, and being able to hang loose again. I find myself smiling when listening to this album. The exploration of exotic sounds, the simple yet masterful bass guitar, and the pure sincerity in frontman Joe Reineke's lazy yet revved-up vocals makes this the perfect CD for a Wednesday night party in your SoHo loft, or a drive down Pacific Coast Highway. Check out jewels "Some Kind Of Way," "I Want It All," "Tripping Up To The Clouds," "Do It Again," "Always Running," and "Atmosphere." This is a rare find; a shining gem for any CD collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CD's I own!!!, July 31, 2002

I bought this disk at and ACS show because I knew I could never get the songs out of my head. These guys are amazing live, and this CD captures some of that live energy. Great pop/punk music, period. From the fast-paced opening track Take Me To Your Leader (a great tune that should have been a radio hit), to the ballad-like Always Running, you will find yourself singing these songs long after the CD is over. Buy this album now, before everyone else catches on to how good these guys are. You will not be disappointed!

Their songs are catchy enough to make commercial listeners happy, yet quirky enough to please indie rockers and their ilk. Unfortunately, their label sensed ACS' commercial appeal and decided to have the album (over)produced in a typical major label big rock way. Whilst this does work on some songs, it totally ruins others, as you can sense that with a less bombastic quality, this album would kick arse! And by the way, I'm not some big lo-fi freak, I love well produced records, but not this over produced over processed vocals rock show garbage. In conclusion, if you like alternative-arena rock (ie Foo Fighters) you will love this, as it is much much better than tripe like that; and if you like pop/punk (Weezer style), you will enjoy this too. It's great, just a shame about the production though.

A buddy of mine turned me on to this CD last night. It's an upbeat pop rock CD with hard charging guitar. The songs flow nicely from one to the next. After only hearing it one time I had to log on and see if I could find it. Perfect for rocking out in the car on the way to a show. Hope this helps.
