5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the movie!, January 18, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dust and Glory (Paperback)
I read this book a number of years ago when I first visited Australia and just re-visited it. It's a cross between Cannonball Run and Romancing the Stone with true Australian heritage and characters that could only exist in Australia...AND DID! Gelignite Jack Murray is a dynamite-throwing maniac who is loved by everyone and a motor racer who teams up with a young American to race around the country for 17,000 km's in the toughest roughest outback to city road race on the planet. It actually ran between 1953 and 1955 and then ceased. The female protagonist is a young doctor who is a real Katherine Hepburn type and I understand it is being made into a movie with Simon West directing next year and it will be the best! It's a trip to the 1950's and the 'good old days' with action, romance, and MANNERS that don't exist today.
