3.0 out of 5 stars A good attempt to comeback
Not one of Tiffany's best work. This disco-ish CD is ok, not the Tiffany that we're all familiar with. It's nice to see she's still recording, but it doesn't measure up to her earlier work. Her last CD "Color of Silence" was excellent, the songs were great. Had more feeling in it. If you're a Tiffany fan like me, then add this to your collection.

While I am not a huge fan of dance music, I have to admit that Tiffany does a great job on this CD of blending pop-music sensibilities with thumping dance-floor beats, tying it all together with soaring melodies and fresh, rarely-predictable arrangments. The CD opens with the terrific "Be With U Tonight," which is probably my favorite song on the album. Other addictive tracks are "Everyone Get Down" and "Artificial Girlfriend."

The music is pretty simple compared to Tiffany's amazing, well-informed "Color of Silence" album, but, hey, it's a party! Tiffany's out to have fun with this new album, and she achieves it. It's refreshing to see a child star really honing her craft as an adult and becoming a truly respectable artist. I look forward to seeing what she will do next!

This is a fantastic cd. It really is and you won't believe it's the same girl that did shopping mall promo's. This is a bubbly, dance cd that is actually really really good. Don't think negatively of her because she used to be a teen queen. Tiffany does a great job here of showing off her vocal range and powerful voice. I think it's only gotten better. The best songs are Be With U Tonight, Kama Sutra and Fly. They all are fantastic, but those three really make you want to get up and DANCE. I listen to this in the car, at work and at home while cleaning. She has even done a remake of I Think We're Alone Now (her version) just for old times sake and that's better too. Please don't pass this off just because you may not have liked her back in the late 80's. She really is very talented and I hope this is only the start of a bigger and better career.

Holy Cow! Just listening to the 1st 9 tracks for the first time left such a good impression - Tiffany rocks, or should I say "You Go Girl!" Definitely great gym music to listen to as well as dance. I can see how someone noted the sound dates back to the late 90's, but nevertheless, this is Tiffany at her best IMHO. Thanks to C89.5 Seattle FM for playing "Na Na Na" which caught my interest in her latest album. Great job Tiffany!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - Tiff's Back!, July 1, 2006

Following my favorite Tiffany CD, thus far, 2000's: The Color Of Silence...Dust Off And Dance just adds to Tiffany's list of versatility when it comes to music.

Tiffany is most commercialy known for her 1980's pop hits. But, she has not stopped putting out great CD's when the spotlight dimmed. She has an amazing voice that has only improved as she has matured and grown. I love the fact that she is not afraid to "put herself out there" and try different things in other genres and do them GREAT! She has done pop, pop/rock, rock and now dance.

On Dust Off And Dance it's quipped as a pure dance CD. You could call it that. But, there are quite a few songs that have a very interesting sound to them. They have the dance base with a hint of rock which just sound like magic. The songs that it really shines on is: "Artificial Girlfriend" - it's my favorite song on the whole CD. It not only has the dance element but, also has equal guitar which gives it a nice rock sound. VERY COOL! A lot of "dance" CD's that you purchase tend to get repetitive after you listen to it a few times because the songs tend to bleed together having a similar beat. That is NOT the case on this CD. That's what makes it very unique. The content (lyrical-wise) on this CD is more adult, as well. A lot more sexual which tends to equal more club friendly. Such as on "Kama Sutra" - the name says it all. Great lyrics and (of cours a good beat to shake your body too.) Another good example of more adult lyrics is on: "Ride It" (use your imagination LOL) - a VERY sexy and bouncy song! I love it! She also has an updated and club friendly version of her classic: "I Think We're Alone Now" that is sure to please!

I like EVERY song on here. Any fan will be on awe with Dust Off And Dance as will anyone who is a fan of dance music. Run out and get yours now!!!

Read this review carefully. I've had this cd for a month, on first listen it doesn't strike out as a great cd. However, like many great songs, there are complex layers in every song and with every listen the songs sound better and better. Every track is different. Variety is the key. You get a bit of house, a bit of euro pop sounds, you get indian flavor beats, there are limp bizkit sounding raps in one of her songs. It's different and it's good. Tiff weaves her stunning voice effortlessly through the unique beats...beats that can only be pulled off by rock producers doing dance, very well done I might add. "Ride it" is very catchy...words and music. "I think we're alone now" remix is decent, it's not over the top and you can listen to it over and over without wanting to switch the track. "Be with you tonight" and "fly" and "na na na" are euro sounding and fun. "everybody" is the rockiest song of the cd, rock meets rap and vocals. "Kama Sutra" is a mid tempo bangra style song which sounds great. "I luv how you feel" is very house sounding and quite good. "Artificial Girlfriend" is more gothic sounding. What you get from this cd is a great mix and each song has it's own character and charm and you end up warming up to everysong. I didn't think you could pull it off Tiffany but you did it and I have my friends who are 18 years old who listen to R&B and Hip Hop asking me to borrow the cd. It is is ultimately catchy and worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pop Diva Elevates A Decent Dance Debut, June 16, 2005
This review is from: Dust Off and Dance (Audio CD)
This eagerly anticipated dance effort was a project long thought never to materialize anywhere but in my vivid imagination. I am an enormous fan of dance/electronic music and an even bigger fan of Tiffany, so when the official word was given that she was recording a dance album, I thought that perhaps a higher power had finally taken pity on my lowly soul and thrown me a bone.

...Sometimes things are better left to daydreams.

To clarify, most creative efforts rarely live up to the (i.e. my) anticipation of them so 'Dust Off and Dance' is not to be judged too harshly. Tiffany is a top-tier talent. Not only is she one of the most gifted, albeit underrated, vocalists in popular music but has proven herself to be a talented songwriter as well. Unfortunately, 'Dust Off and Dance' isn't entirely the best showcase for that.

Though she produced pop/rock brilliance with Tim Feehan and Joe Brooks on her magnum opus 'The Color Of Silence', it seems gold may not be struck twice here. The trio knows a rock riff and a stirring ballad but producer Feehan seems out of his element in the world of dance. The club beats are largely throwbacks to the mid-90's eurodance craze ala LaBouche, Gina G. etc. Nothing bad per se, it's just that the tracks overall don't stack up against most of todays club hits from the production aspect.

"Artificial Girlfriend", a phenomenal rock track she performed during her live shows turns up here with a generic bassline under a glorious guitar crunch that makes it feel rather awkward. While some definite uplifting joy is to be had with the bouncy "Be With U Tonight", the driving "Na Na Na" and the sexy "Ride It", they still felt a bit dated from the overabundance of layers and standard basslines. "Kama Sutra" is a pulsing duet with singer Dre Wilson that oozes sensuality. The problem? When it's your album, never let the guest sing most of the song. Tiffany's voice can wrap around any style with ease, but her velvety base tones were tailor-made for songs of an intimate, sensual nature. "Sacrifice" holds epic, trance-like possibilities but like almost every other songs biggest flaw, it just doesn't quite meet it's grand potential. The opening piano is simply gorgeous, but the schizo slamming of the keys mid-way completely disrupt it's hypnotic pace.

Tiffany's voice is in fantastic form, as always, and continues to show how seamlessly this talent makes herself at home in any style of music. However, it would have been nice for her to finally give fans a track where those powerful pipes soar on a note, and what better place for a diva wail then a dance record? She's also showed that she creates an arrangement and chorus like few others. The problem isn't in the songwriting. Sure, it's not as deeply introspective as 'The Color of Silence' but it shouldn't be. She is not in the same place as she was five years ago. As with any truly good party dance album, there is oodles of sexual innuendo, love making it all better and hands in the air enthusiasm. There is no doubt every track would've benefited from the touch of a producer more adept in the genre. It is a valiant effort in making a fun, lighthearted record for the fans but not quite the glorious anthem it could and should be.

All of that said, there is much infectious fun to be had with 'Dust Off and Dance' and it is an album that truly grows more appealing with every listen (it was a three star review when I started - of course Tiffany gets two by default). It also makes me eagerly await remixes as any clubber knows most classic anthems are the remixed versions anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not "The Color Of Silence"..., August 26, 2005
This review is from: Dust Off and Dance (Audio CD)
...but still a damn good CD.

Yes, some of the sounds are pretty much late 90's club sounding. But so what. You still wanna dance when you hear it.

1. "Ride It" should be a single.

2. "Fly" is one of those "typical" sounding dance songs. Feel like I am at the clubs in 1996. It is one of the best songs on the album. And it should have been the lead off track. Followed by "Ride It."

3. "Artificial Girlfriend" didn't appeal to me at first. Although, it sounds better every time I listen to it.

4. "Be With U Tonite" has this crazy sound in the background. I keep trying to tune out the rest of the song to hear that! Another 1996 song.

5. "Everyone Get Down" is a great idea. And I keep listening to it. But still it sounds a little dated.

6. "Na Na Na" is so annoying I can't stop listening to it.

7. "I Luv How You Feel" is a pretty good album filler. Great "stereo" sound.

8. "Kama Sutra" is an okay song. Obviously, the sexiest song on the album. I don't consider Tiffany's music sexy. Maybe it's just me. I skip it sometimes.

9. "Sacrifice" is, I guess, supposed to be swifting, melodioc, "ballad" of the album. I honestly haven't listened to the song the whole way through once.

10. "I Think We're Alone Now" is my least favorite on the album. I read it's a brand new recording. Sounds like "some" parts of the song were resung, and some parts sound like the "old" voice! And the "children behave" being repeated over and over gets on my nerves.

11. and once again..."Ride It" should be a single!

Fun album to listen to. Could have dropped "I Think We're Alone Now." Maybe added a few more.
