5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD
I work at a radio station doing a Metal show, and in my huble opinion this is easily one of the best new bands out there and one of the best new Metal CDs this year. The band is great in concert as well. They've recently rocked the house on tour with Type O Negative and been in Hit Parader and Metal Edge magazine. This four man band out of Brooklyn shows us some more nu metal. The music is very dark and eerie. This review is from: Dust to Dust (Audio CD)
Despite this they're one of many bands that are less known than they should be. Their music is emotional, dark and well written. Some tracks are good radio singles and nu-metal sounding (Submission, Breathe, New Low and Mr. Doe), while others (Pottersfield and Blackened Dove) are well done ballads. If you're looking for something new in a stagnant music genre, check them out! Their new EP "Sick" is currently being released and if you have a chance, check it out, it's even better!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's About Time, September 8, 2001
This review is from: Dust to Dust (Audio CD)
It's about time a band had the balls to break the cycle of rehashed band wagon rap that is out there. This album is heavy as hell and dark as they come. Well crafted songs, hooks galore. They have managed to bring a refreshing sound to the metal table, this is the alternative to the alternative. I've had the CD for two weeks now and I'de easily put it in my top ten of the year. Dust to Dust has managed to forge their own style and that is rare in this saturated market. All killer and no filler on this album, to bad that cant be said for most of the [stuff] out there! Pick it up and enjoy the experience!

Rob is a personal friend of mine but don't let that make you buy the CD! This is one band that should have made it all the way to the top! Awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best bands you've never heard of, October 3, 2003
This review is from: Dust to Dust (Audio CD)
Dust To Dust, underground hard rockers from Brooklyn, N.Y. This was their first release, and surprisingly, on a major label. This album has alot of different styles on it; Hard rock, Thrash, Melodic, even some techno elements. The only reason I even heard of them was because Sanctuary Records was contracted by the makers of Heavy Metal: Geomatrix (for Dreamcast) to use various songs by assorted artists from their label. Dust To Dust had three songs from this album used in the game, including the great thrash-ish style song "New Low". DTD was later dropped by Sanctuary Records because this band never made it above the underground level, but if you're into some underground hard rock, then look no further than Dust To Dust. The highlights of this album include New Low, Submission, Breathe (which is VERY mainstream-sounding), and No Surprise. Vocalist Rob Traynor does a good job of changing his voice to the point of making the band sound like it has two singers, one with a low gloomy voice, another with a more higher pitched, lighter voice. I recomend this album to anyone who's tired the crap the music plays on a daily basis.

Dust To Dust take the haunting harmonic synth tones of "Orgy", the gritty vocals of early 90's metal or industral metal and combine them with a chunky modern metal riffs. They sing on topics the are a bit darker like "Drowning Pool" or "Disturbed". Dust To Dust also adds heavily electronic element into their music like "Static X". A few good songs on the CD are "New Low" and "Submission".

5.0 out of 5 stars DUSTINED FOR GREATNESS!!!!!, February 4, 2004

DESTRO ATTACKS (loDIE, new joisey) - See all my reviews

Ironically the first time i ever heard from these guys, was when playing an obscure capcom videogame based on the HEAVY METAL franchise (GEOMATRIX) the song submission and mr.doe was part of the game's BGM. thus i purchased this self titled cd, and it exceeded my expectations. these guys actually have potentual to be the next static-x or powerman 2000 but in a different direction. rob traynor's vocals add more depth to the power packed songs, like dead inside,if i was god, stay away..etc. this is my kind of METAL. emotionally charged songs and lyrics accompanied by nice guitar riffs , a touch of synthersizers and of course social commentary.
anyway here's the lowdown.

MR DOE 4/5

IF I WAS GOD 5/5

POTTERSFIELD 3/5

SUBMISSION 5/5

BREATHE 4/5

DEAD INSIDE 5/5

BLACKEND LOVE 3/5

NO SURPRISE 5/5

In closing i had the priveledge of meeting these guys after performing at NYC's Continental. cool band unfortunetly SICK was their last album. i wish em the best.

2.0 out of 5 stars A clone of Dope, and a bad one at that, October 10, 2003
By
This review is from: Dust to Dust (Audio CD)
Dope are an original industrial metal band that mixes techno samples, party rythyms, jackhammer beats, and heavy music together and make a raging soundtrack. Dust to Dust is just a clone that uses slower music and one of the worst vocalists I have ever heard. It might not seem like enough to dismiss them, but it is. Making your band into a carbon-copy of another is all to common these days. Don't get this because you might as well just put on Static-X or Dope, who sound just like the guys... except Static and Dope are talented. Don't get this... it's not worth it.

Amazing, not many rock bands nowadays come wit such a punch as DTD. Lead man Rob Traynor is an amazing writer, singer, and bassist. Lyrics the reach deep in your soul, tear out your heart, and leave you for more. Along with a Rockin' band to back him up. These guys should be in the Rock & Roll Hall 'O Fame.
