5.0 out of 5 stars Loveless products in General
I bought the loveless drywall sander and vacuum about 4 years ago. I used the vacuum for all my dry vac needs in the house. It is great for not spreading the dust back out via the vent in the vac like a regular wet/dry vac does.

I have had a few problems with the drywall sander, however, I rate their products so good because of the customer service from...

For those of you remodling/drywall contractors hoping for a god-send.... this is NOT it.The catalog description was a little mis-leading; I had thought this was a lighter, less expensive verson of Porter-Cables, electric, disc-sander. It is powered strictly by the suction of your shop-vac,(hence the "Turbo" designation), operating instructions say to use their(Love-less),co's "Dry-wall" vaccum;(what did you expect?)I have a Milwaukee shop vac- (their most powerfull model) so I'm sure it has sufficient suction, upon hooking it up, and turning on the vaccum, the sanding head did vibrate well. You can't "lean-on" it to make it sand faster, it will bog down,(the instructions tell you this as well),so it's not a fast as conventional hand sanding.BUT it is nearly DUST-FREE!;(as long as your shop vac has proper filtration for this fine dust). You also have to oil it(according to instructions) at LEAST every 1/2 HR.-through a very fine hole, with included special oil,(the bottle has NO Spout to fit either), which I did, but some-time after about 2 hrs of use, the unit quit, and would not work further. It would be GREAT for small patches/repairs, if it would work. It's light, easy to handle, and learn,(unlike Porter Cable's), and virtually Dust-Free, which I was looking for. I think the problem lies in drawing the dusty air through the "Turbo-unit",this has to create clogging problems. Dont give up, Love-Less Co! Your on the right track; make it reliable, more powerful,(maybe elect. over vaccum?),include an oil bottle that FITS the oil hole, and hell, I'd pay twice the price!I've been a remodeling G/C for over 20 yrs.... The industry NEEDS this !

1.0 out of 5 stars Company won't stand behind its own product, May 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
We bought it after seeing it at the NAHB show in Atlanta. After using it only five minutes we decided it wasn't worth the money and wanted to return it. The company sent us back a form letter stating SATISFACTION NOT GUARANTEED.

I am concerned whenever a company is not willing to stand behind its own product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very weak - but it is dustless, December 7, 2004

Very weak - but it is dustless. In fact, mine sits in my basement and creates no dust. I found this unit worthless for drywall finishing in a new installation or a large remodel (also Amazon didnt have the coarser grit papers I needed). I think this unit may be useful for very small repairs where dust is not acceptable however, I found a manual sander for $19.95 with a "dustless" system that uses a bucket of water to trap the dust before it enters a regular shop vac. I find this $20 system (without the bucket of water)works much better than the "turbo sander". I do connect the manual dustless sander to the loveless vacuume and unless you get very aggressive with sanding on a wall, it collects all of the dust produced.. The loveless vacuume is great - it is quiet, powerful, and doesnt loose suction even after hours of sanding and cleanup.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please don't bother!, November 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
We tried this on a job, and after less than a minute decided to send it back. I'm a professional drywaller, and am always looking for an easier way to sand, but this is not it. It dug right into the drywall compound leaving the finish marred, which I then had to sand smooth. Please, this thing is a toy, and not to be taken seriously! Don't buy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, November 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
Yeah, like everyone else I wanted a cheaper version of the Porter unit. This meets the letter of that request. If this unit is used slowly on surfaces requiring relatively little material removal, results are tolerable. If, however, you use this to smooth an area that you had to "sculpt" in (transitioning from plaster to drywall or special contours, for instance) you will be disappointed...or worse. Unit bogs down with relatively little pressure, so go slow and let the machine work at its' own pace. Unit does not get into the last 1/2" or so on inside corners...so be prepared to finish those by hand. If you don't buy their REALLY expensive vac, try a good shopvac with the available drywall dust bags...eliminated filter clogging problems and airborne dust.

I bought the loveless drywall sander and vacuum about 4 years ago. I used the vacuum for all my dry vac needs in the house. It is great for not spreading the dust back out via the vent in the vac like a regular wet/dry vac does.

I have had a few problems with the drywall sander, however, I rate their products so good because of the customer service from the company.

After about 2 years, I tried the drywall sander on a larger project. It was not working good and the vibrating that powers the head stopped with very little preasure. I called loveless. He asked me a few questions, then determined that the was a screw missing on the sanding head. I still was on my first sheet of sandpaper that came with the unit. It may have been lose or not assembled correct. They sent me a brand new sanding head :) Great service.

Today, I went to use it again on a larger sanding project since last time I finished up with my other sanding techniques because I did not want to wait a few days for the sanding head. Well after about 20 minutes, I was getting several shocks. These were from Static electricity. But they did not feel good. I called them up to find out if workaround like wear rubber gloves. They asked if I had the yellow pole? I did, he said about a year ago they replaced with an alluminum pole to solve the issue. He said he will ship me out a new pole. This free replacement is after I have owned the product for over 4 years.

I liked the product and company I also bought the ashless fireplace vac :)

This product does not sand overly fast, but this sander does a great job with collecting the dust. If you are doing remodel work where dust is a concern, this is a great product, and the customer service is outstanding.

This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was disapointed with the product. After 15 minutes of use, the orbital head slowed down. It stopped within 20 minutes and I was unable to clear the head to continue the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars The sander is OK specially for smal projects., March 17, 2006
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this sander and start using it next day, like other reviewers write you probably can do the job faster by hand sanding but this sander is almost dust free and you don't get tired as you would do the hand sanding. You have to try the tool in some small place before you start working with it specially if you are use this sander first time, you have to feel the tool and find the good way to work and how to control it, also it should be flat to the wall.
I'am remodeler and I have to work with drywall a lot so when you do some patching at your customers house with furniture this sander is probably the best to use. Also ones in few hours you have to lubricate the tool and after you finish work with the tool you stil have to check the walls and finish sanding with hand, some corners and tight places but it wont be too much.
When I bought this sander I finish with this tool two bedrooms single famaly house painting and drywall repair and I can say this tool help me a lot and save me a lot of time for cleaning the floors.
So in one word I like the tool and would recomend it to you.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
i read all of the reviews for this tool before i bought it, many good and some bad.I bought it anyway with just average expectations.at first thats all i got was average results but then i boosted the power of my vacum by using a bag instead of a filter and it made all the difference.my vacum is a 5.0 hp rigid and it is more than enough power.this tool is 100% dustless and it realy does alot of the work for you.a few of the guys that i work with will be purchasing one of their own soon.great tool.works as advertised.

5.0 out of 5 stars 99% Dustless - Excellent Product, April 16, 2009
This review is from: Dustless Technologies 50001 Turbo Drywall Sander with 7-Foot Extendable Pole (Tools & Home Improvement)
I just received my sander in the mail yesterday and put it straight to work. I have a 6.5 horse Craftsman shop vac that you can buy at Sears. I tested the sander first on a smaller vacuum and it did not perform well as many people had said. After hooking it up to the larger vacuum it was a completely different story. The thing couldn't be stopped. I pressed firmly, if not hard, on it into the wall and it only slowed down very little (read -- much harder than you would ever want to press on a sander, I was just testing its limits).

I have used orbital sanders with vac attachments in the past, and this performs just as well, but captures the dust MUCH better. The surface smooths quickly and smooths well. This is an excellent product and may not be as fast as hand sanding or the $400+ Porter Cable, but it is dustless, and I was sanding the kitchen as my wife was cooking in it and there was no air-born dust and very little that remained on the wall and floor.

Ensure you have a strong vacuum to make this product perform like it is designed to. You will be disappointed with a weak vacuum.
