Editorial Reviews

Product Description
2008 Deluxe two disc (CD + DVD) edition of the Toronto-based rapper's universally acclaimed album featuring a bonus DVD. K'naan, former refugee, now based in Toronto makes music that is a mixture of hip hop, African beats and world music intertwined - combining African drums, chants, handclaps, guitars and organic instrumentation sets this album outside the hip hop herd. K'naan creates music with a message. Leaving Somalia at the age of thirteen on what turned out to be the last commercial flight ever to do so, amidst a crumbling society and the end to this day of any form of central government K'naan carried with him a very strong sense of purpose as well as his amazing lyrical gift, which has made him a beacon for other artists a well as those dedicated to global change.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this CD!, July 1, 2008

K'naan's "Dusty Foot Philosopher" is on that real tip. Kid grew up in a warzone and caught the last flight to Canada before the airport shut down. Since then he's been rocking the house. Saw him live with Stephen Marley last year and he killed it! Glad the cd is finally available in the states.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hip Hop From a Different Perspective, June 25, 2008
This album has good production quality. The rhymes are clean and its nice to hear hip hop with a different perspective. Something different from that same old party, and gangsta stuff. Makes you wonder "What's hardcore really"

4.0 out of 5 stars Knaan is on his way, April 20, 2009
This album is good, however Troubadoor is better. I feel as though this album lacked versatility. It is good but needed a little more of an African feel and better beats.Knaan definitely shows his lyrical prowness. However just rapping with the same monotone doesn't exactly cut it unless there are great beats. Troubadoor came with some great beats, inciteful lyrics and horns and an overall ethnic feel to it.I still would recommend purchasing this album. Knaan is on his way to greatness and provides a fresh breath of air from the same ole type of rap songs.
