Editorial Reviews

Drawing comparisons to bands from CCR and Yes, to The Arcade Fire and The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a tall order, but Anaheim based Dusty Rhodes and The River Band are fairly classified in all those comparisons. The versatile sextet is heavy on rousing sing-a-longs, sweeping arrangements and clever song writing. Fronted by charismatic singer/keyboard player Dustin Apodaca, the Dusty Rhodes collective injects manic energy and homespun charm into songs that range from blue-eyed soul rockers like All One!; to multi-part prog-laced epics like Street Fighter Opus;, to bittersweet folk gems like Highest Mountain;

Since their conception in 2002, DRRB has earned a reputation for their explosive live shows and relentless touring schedule, touring with a wide variety of acts like Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, Brand New, and Los Lobos to name a few. The band's 3rd and latest release, the self-titled Dusty Rhodes and The River Band (to be released June 2010), is their most focused and comprehensive record yet, capturing both their epic numbers as well as the raw power of their live shows.
