Bouncy Dusty at her Early Best,
By Tom O'Leary "Writer" (Los Angeles, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dusty (Audio CD)
This is one of the earliest Dusty albums to be released in America. It shows how much Dusty was influenced by both Motown (especially her friend Martha Reeves) and the reigning girl groups of the era (especially those bad girls, The Shangri-las). Dusty had tasted American soul music, loved it, and sang it back to us with her usual impeccable timing and perfect voice. This doesn't compare to the classic "Dusty in Memphis", but it's great fun just the same. Brava!

I'm proud to say that the debut (as far as I know) album of Dusty Springfield is surprisingly very consistant throughtout, unlike alot of LP's during the mid 60's.There is a very prominant Motown influence at large-something of a mix between the Funk Brothers and Phil Specters wall of sound but it's Springfields classic, soulful vocalising that you'll pay attention to.Any of her albums I would highly recommend considering Dusty's well known demand for high artistic quality. And this won't dissappoint either.
