This by BGK comprises their two albums "Jonestown aloha!" and "Nothing can go wrong" plus their excellent single "White man dumbinance". "Jonestown aloha!" is one of the best hardcore albums ever recorded. It features 20 hardcore songs than last less than 35 minutes. "White male dumbinance" was the next effort released by BGK. It is even considered as their best release by many people. I have no words to describe the eight melodic and fast songs on this EP. The only problem I see with these songs is the sound. Fortunately Alternative Tentacles did a good masterization job and the sound is a little bit better than the one on the vinyl. I keep listening to these songs on and on. My favorite song of this EP is "Crime pays". "Nothing can wrong" finishes off this CD. Even though this album has good songs, it is worse than the previous two releases. It is worth a listen anyway. Two compilations songs as well as unreleased track are included on this CD. Even though the title of the CD starts with "The complete works...' this is not as complete as Alternative Tentacles claims. For example, The songs "Nothing can wrong" featured on the "Viva Unbowko" compilation and "Computer control" on the "Welcome to 1984" compilation are for example missing on this CD. It had not been a bad idea to have released the BGK discography on a double CD, including extra, unreleased live tracks and compilation tracks. My congratulations to Alternative Tentcles for having reissued the BGK discography, anyway. As they claim on their website, this is a reissue of necessity. This is without a doubht a must have CD for any person who considers himself old hardcore enthusiastic.

First of all it's Balthasar Gerards Kommando and not just Balthasar Gerards (B.G. is the guy that shot down and killed prince William of Orange, the first dutch royal in the line of the house Orange).

These are the collected works from 1981 to 1985(?) and includes one of the best punk records ever made; 'Jonestown Aloha!' (1983). Roughly recorded, yet powerful and alive this record combines hard-edged political HC punk with some, more melodic :-), punk-rock tracks. The second LP 'Nothing can go wrong' is, in my opinion, less in power and feel. The collection is topped by the 'Male dumbinance' e.p. and tracks from punk samplers. One the whole a powerful document of one of the dutch HC-Punk pioneers from the early 80's. A fun extra when listening to this record is the stuff in dutch. the young girl with: 'Ik vind punk rot-muziek, geef mij maar gewone muziek waar je goed op kan dansen' (I think punk-music sucks, give me normal music to which you can really dance) has become a little legend eventhough hardly anyone understands what she say's. A piece of punk history and a must have for people that enjoy old-school punk-rock!
