Of the many books being produced to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's exploration of the river named after him, this may be the best, a series of essays by top scholars on the Dutch influence on the development of New York State LONG after the English conquered the Dutch in 1674. Fascinating. Accompanies a show at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers this summer but also stands alone perfectly.

As my family came to New Holland in 1663, this book was interesting. I was disapointed that it didn't have any thing about the Dutch in New Paultz and show a house like the Terwilliger house from 1738..and others...

I will give it three stars

Thank you

R. Terwilliger
