Well written book, organized in a very usable style, I love the recipes and "margin tips" included by the author. Both this book and Dick's later book "Dutch Oven Entertaining" have some glaring (sometimes entertaining) typos that distract a little from a great work. They're both still well worth the price!

We bought this book over 15 years ago. It started out with just needing a good pork and bean recipe. This has it but every recipe is good. Dick Stuki is well known where I live in the Inter-Mountian West. Each recipe is well explained and easy to follow. With a little thought I have been able to use these in my regular oven. We have all the cookbooks from our local Dutch Oven Society competitions but we always go back to this for real down home cooking and camping. It never fails, when we take our beans to a dinner, that we are asked for the recipe. Whether you cook over coals or use your dutch oven in your oven (yes it works) the food just tastes better!

I borrowed this book from my son's boy scout troop to try and pick out a few recipes for family camping. Nearly everything in the book sounded great so I bought my own copy.
