5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best folk albums ever, period., July 17, 2000

This album is a terrific example of Liam's excellent ballad singing. It is an essential cd to own for anyone who enjoys Irish music, or just plain great folk music. The beautiful version of Ralph McTell's Streets of London should be enough for anyone to purchase this, but you also get every other classic song on this album. The only small problem I had with the cd was that the version of the title track, The Dutchman, lacks the heart and soul of Liam's live version, so find that too(hint:Makem&Clancy concert). But if you are reading this- buy this album.

The Dutchman and the streets of london will haunt you forever they will always be playing in your heart and mind. You will never want to be without the CD again, BUT you can recall them in your mind as needed. Liam Clancy again warms your heart and feeds your soul If these were the only two songs on the tape I would pay dearly for it DO NOT MISS THIS CD GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Liam Clancy-A Great Balladeer, August 20, 2004
This review is from: Dutchman (Audio CD)
This CD delivers some of Liam's most tender singing. To agree with the other reviews, the title track is sub-par, and I would reccomend another version. Most of the songs are great, but the last 2-3 aren't so great. Most buy an Irish CD to hear Irish music, and these last few are overproduced, and the last one is an English music hall song. Still, a good CD-Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous!!, July 28, 2006

My dad used to listen to the vinyl of this all the time when I was a kid. I still have it. I think it is solid music. I've always had a special place in my heart for irish music by The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Maken, but particularly Liam Clancy and The Dutchman. I always loved it. And now I'm getting this cd from here at amazon. Fiddlers Green, Yarmouth Town, (if thats how you spell it), The Dutchman, Foggy Dew, just phenominal stuff. I can't wait to get it.
