5.0 out of 5 stars Cyberia Mix - Full 12 Songs Version, June 3, 2001
"Cyberia Mix" could have come straight from the playlist at Club Cyberia in the anime "Serial Experiments Lain." There is a distinct trance/techno feel to the music, reminiscent of the dark, cyberpunk themes of "Lain."

The first song, "'s'peEd" is undoubtably the most danceable. It makes up with relentless bass and electronically enhanced lyrics what it lacks in melody.

The second song, a remix of "Duvet," by the British band Boa, is a definite break from the rest of the CD. It is without a doubt hauntingly beautiful, and remarkably addictive. Jasmine Rodger's sweet, clear voice is easy to sing along with. Although the remix only slightly changes the song, it is preferable to the original.

The third song is this reviewer's favorite: "professed intention and real intention." However, some listeners may object to its simplicty: it consists merely of one shrill lyric forcefully repeated over a drum track.

The seventh song, "prayer," is another delicious track. It begins with a foot-tapping beat, moves to fast rap, and fades to whispered, hypnotic lyrics, all over a fascinating melody.

Song ten, "INFANiTy world," is another odd but lovely song. Its melody is uninteresting - its strength lies instead in its lyrics: poetry spoken in uninflected, heavily accented English. A strangely catchy sung chorus rounds out the eerie sound.

The last track on the CD is also the most disappointing: another version of "Duvet." Shorter than the original, but not enhanced by a remix, this track is sure to disappoint even the most die-hard Boa fan.

All in all, "Cyberia Mix" is a great addition to any anime fan's collection, but especially perfect for fans of both "Lain" and techno/trance/dance music. In conclusion, this CD is not only a reflection of the atmosphere of the show, but also worthwhile music that's sure to please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as Weird as the Anime, Yet Stil Danceable :-), February 4, 2002
Even after multiple viewings, the instant-classic anime series Serial Experiments Lain is so incredibly strange and hard to follow that it makes The Matrix seem incredibly straightforward. The oddity of the anime series comes from its mix of temporality, realms, and music. and this CD certainly embodies all three (not just the music) in sixty minutes of virtually non-stop intoxication.

"Duvet" is one of the most sought-after songs by diehard anime otaku, and this incredible CD presents both the TV version (as the final track) and a hauntingly beautiful remix (as Track 2). The remix of "Duvet" is itself more than worth the price of the CD!!! The other techno-based songs are also incredible, especially "Professed Intention and Real Intention" and "INFANiTy World."

Those who really enjoyed the Club Cyberia scenes in Serial Experiments Lain will especially find this CD a rare find. The music on this CD sounds exactly like being in Club Cyberia - minus the blood :-) Playing this CD at any gathering of otaku is CERTAIN to provoke some interesting commentaries concerning the music and the anime series itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars IT'S A SINGLE !!!!, November 29, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Duvet (Audio CD)
Please read the item description closely, and you will see this is a CD SINGLE! It's a mini-disk containing only two songs. "Duvet" is beautiful of course, and the other song ("Deeply", I think) is pretty catchy too. However, spending $15 for two songs is beyond what most people can justify.
