5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best version available, March 16, 2003
This review is from: Dvorak: Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 53, Romance in F Minor, Op. 11 (Audio CD)
I must admit to having mixed feelings about Perlman. At times, he seems more preoccupied with showing off his fabulous technique and he fails to delve into the music. On this album, however, he is very focused, and the result is the most beautiful playing I've heard since Heifetz.

Barenboim is his usual professional self, and they make irresistible music here.

It's an album that continues to amaze and satisy.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderfully performed, October 7, 2005

This review is from: Dvorak: Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 53, Romance in F Minor, Op. 11 (Audio CD)
The music on this CD is beautifully composed and played. I have read that Dvorak's violin concerto was criticized because of the transition between the first and second movements but I think that actually makes it a better composition. The melodies are great and the orchestral background is filled with interesting color. What pleasant tunes! The "Romance" is equally pleasant.
The only complaint I have is the recording itself which sometimes seems strangely two dimensional on my headphones. The details are audible though. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful emotional work!, August 1, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dvorak: Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 53, Romance in F Minor, Op. 11 (Audio CD)
I am just beginning to learn how to play this piece and the recording has helped out a lot. Itzahk Perlman does a wonderful job of showing the many "flavors" and techniques of this work. Five stars with shining colors!
