"Must read" for parents of children with short stature,
By Denise Crompton, author of Kelley's Journey: ... (New Hampshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dwarfism: Medical and Psychosocial Aspects of Profound Short Stature (Paperback)
As the mother of a 4'6" woman with Mucolipidosis III, I could relate to many of the stories I read in this book. Beyond that, I learned a great deal about all of the different causes for dwarfism. Dr. Adelson has presented a comprehensive view of the many challenges faced by dwarfs. She writes with the compassion of one who has the understanding of the complexities of finding the right treatment for each individual. This is a must read for anyone who is raising a child with short stature. It contains a wealth of valuable information about numerous disorders, and a list of different helpful organizations. The many personal accounts help to make the information very meaningful. This book is a "keeper" to be used for reference in the future.

Are you curious about dwarfism from a medical as well as social stand point? This is a really good book about what people with dwarfism (there are over 200 different forms) face, feel and view themselves.I have had this book for several years and I really, really enjoy reading it. |
