5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it 9 Nov 2012
By Watt'stheNews

As a very proud Dwarf fanatic, I can honestly say that this book brings Dwarves out in a great and more realistic light. They aren't simply a hardened race who love mining and battle, though it is one part, they are much more. For just like humans, they are sometimes silly, sometimes lazy, sometimes downheartened, and sometimes, as we all do, they make mistakes. This book brings to light such things, and also brings you through a brilliant narrative of impeding war, brotherhood, and not just the usual groups of seemingly favoured races. For those who enjoy fantasy, battle, adventure, hardship, bonding, and the need to come up with a better strategy, this book is a must read.

About the Author

I started writing at a very young age, and was greatly encouraged by my teachers at school. One of my English teachers used to wade through the stack of papers that students would submit for writing assignments. She would find mine, and always read it first. That had a huge effect on me. Now I am supported by family and friends who read my writings and leave me feedback. I don't seem to stick to a particular genre, but write the stories that I would want to read. I hope you enjoy my efforts.

My son loved this book. He had just finished reading Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and was looking for more dwarf adventures. He was thrilled to find a book series he can't wait to read. In fact, he is doing a school book report on the third book and asks frequently when the next installment to the series is coming. He said it was a "real page-turner"! Thanks, Clark. We highly recommend your books for fun, fantasy adventures reminiscent of Tolkien.

A good story on a par with Forgotten Realms and Mithgard series. I would have liked to more about elves in it though.

4.0 out of 5 stars dwarves October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a good book. I took awhile reading it. It didn't really keep me locked into it. I wanted a little more out of it. I've read the Hobbit, Trilogy, Shanarra series. So I would have liked a little more. BUT, it was pretty fair. I would read it again and see if I missed something. So if you would, read it. I have found that when I listen to others reviews, I miss out on somethings I would like. So you be the judge and read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little People February 4, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For a first book of a series, I enjoyed it. I gave this 4 stars, not for the quality, but for the effort put forth by the author. The writing is simplistic, but I want to encourage the author to get better. There is a minor problem I have with this series. Dwarves of other series and sometimes depicted as having some magical power over the rock and are many times seen as short, muscular and very strong. Here, these dwarves are just little people without anything special about them but height. I like the extra added dimension to the dwarves.

The book would have been good if not for the numerous typographical and grammar related errors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good start to the series of books
Good characters and storyline. The main character is well developed and allowed to grow in his role as a leader which has some real twists in his life's journey.

4.0 out of 5 stars More dwarf wars......
We need more dwarf war! Battles in a mountain deep. Orc hordes raging thru a mountain kingdom! Never a sound on the surface. No one aware of the total war below.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good story
The story is good and easily read. The paragraphs are short, more of a book for teens though. I enjoyed the book.
