Anything I've plugged in was instantly recognized without a glitch.

Its aluminum housing could cause injury if used improperly, but fortunately its heavy-gauge housing is burnished and coated in a sandy black finish.

While limited USB port with a laptop, a PowerHub does play a very important role.

This hub is extremely well made, from a mechanical perspective. Having been a machinist & tool designer for 20 some years, I can honestly say that this is how I would build a hub. It is constructed from extruded aluminum with punched holes for the ports. The finish is sort of a semi-matte black (a bit glossier than a true matte black) with a textured finish. I cannot speak for the quality of the electronics inside, nor the construction of the actual USB ports. I assume this hub contains low-cost Chinese built electronic components, housed in no less than a military-duty housing.

I believe Mark's review of 2 stars was a bit harsh, and seems to reflect his understandable frustration of the overall purchase & return, and subsequent customer service directly from the company. I get that, I hate hassles like what he went through. But the hub the itself does not merit only 2 stars by any means. However, I do have a point of concern: the specs state that this hub will supply 900ma per port. That is great. But then why does it ship with a 2000ma (2a) power supply? 900 x 4 is 3600 where I went to school. I also am not an electronics wizard, so perhaps there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this. Or not.

Off the record, this is a 5-star hub. It is truly the nicest hub I have seen or used. On the record, I am giving 4 stars for this review. I have subtracted 1 star because the manufacturer is fully aware of a serious compatibility issue with this, yet they have still not updated the description to reflect this, despite having had ample time and additional verification that there is, in fact a problem. Apparently they would rather frustrate additional customers, so for the Mark's out there, they lose a star until I see that they have decided to show real customer support.

This USB hub is definitely an industrial strength tool!! I bought this to replace a Hub that simply stopped working with routine use after a couple of months. The old hub was made of plastic and on initial use the top and bottom halves broke apart. I super glued it and it worked great for a few months. Then for no reason it just quit. In contrast this Dyconn Hub is constructed like a brick (OUT)house. It is contained in a very, very heavy gauge solid aluminum case. You could stand on this thing and not dent it. The 7 ports are slightly recessed into the case which gives excellent stability to the cable inserted. The power switch is easily accessible. It appears to easily supply full USB 3.0 900 mA to each port. The one thing I miss from previous Hub is the 2 Power only ports for charging my IPad and phone. So far the Dyconn Hub has been absolutely flawless and recognizes everything I plug into it. It also does NOT have that weird quirk that messes with a USB 2.0 wireless mouse dongle, good work guys!! I have multiple USB 3.0 hard drives plugged in and transfer speeds are superb. Video file transfers that took about 8 minutes now average maybe 2-4 minutes max!! PROS: SOLID, FAST, RELIABLE, COMPATIBILITY. CONS: NO POWER ONLY PORTS.

Bought a new desktop and was debating to whether install an additional internal USB 3.0 card but ultimately opted for an external one. I did research on the various choices available and opted for this one due to the more positive reviews than bad one plus the 8 USB 3.0 slots. It requires external power to drive it and has an on/off switch, which allows more control of the unit. I have all 8 slots occupied with external hard drives, thumb drives, charging cables, and as a connector for my digital cameras and external DVD burner. It functions flawlessly with my new PC and Windows 7 OS. I have it on fully plugged, 24 hours a day since I installed it more than 30 days ago with not malfunctions whatsoever. my computer recognizes all devices plugged in and it was a simple plug and play. Anything I've plugged in was instantly recognized without a glitch. The unit is sturdy and almost over-built unlike many items that are mostly plastic and flimsy. This unit is bullet proof so far. Very delighted with it.

Solid construction, lots of USB 3.0 ports, worked perfectly with my rack-mounted server. Blue active lights show up well. Couldn't be happier.

Excellent product. I had run into problems with not enough USB 3 ports on my iMac. So was piggybacking a few 4 port hubs.
That looked quite messy. The Dycomm solved that problem with ten ports.
Industrial grade is right. This hub is constructed to last. And looks nice too.

I only had one USB 3 port on my Gigabyte Motherboard and had all the card slots maxed-out, so I was looking for an option that would give me fast, reliable USB 3 powered ports for multiple drives and this is an industrial-strength solution!

This is a tank. Its aluminum housing could cause injury if used improperly, but fortunately its heavy-gauge housing is burnished and coated in a sandy black finish. The seven powered ports are recessed and allow easy push-in and pull-out. It has recognized every thing I've plugged into it (I am on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit). I am not sure, but file transfer from devices plugged into this go directly through the hub controller and are only managed by Windows.

I like my work environment dark and this unit has a very bright blue LED power indicator, but it is also used to illuminate the port openings, so inserting connectors isn't guesswork. I like the small, silent power button as well.

The odd thing is that if the unit is OFF, but plugged into the computer while it boots, Windows 7 Pro tells me that devices I plug into the hub "could be performing faster " with a USB 3 connection. When the unit is connected and ON, Windows thinks it is a USB 3 hub and not a USB 2 hub.

I see other talking about a 3 foot USB 3 connector cord included. Amazon made it clear the unit did not ship with one and to purchase one extra, which I did. There was no cord included with this unit. The cord is similar, but different from the regular USB 2 printer cord, so you will need one.

The extra cord purchase and the quirkyness about having the unit on and plugged in to get USB 3 means no 5 stars. This is an amazing, solid, fast and has industrial machined build quality.
