4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthwhile Album, May 8, 2007

Krystal Meyer's second album is another quality effort. She has a beautiful voice that she uses in positive ways. Her songs are solid Christian pop/rock. She makes it clear that Christ is her focus. She does that while making very pleasing music.

There are several very good songs on this CD. One particular standout is, 'The Beauty of Grace'.

I would recommend this album. It is one that will be particularly good for teenage girls/young women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled., May 30, 2007
This review is from: Dying for a Heart (Audio CD)
The cover can be deceptive, but trust me, Krystal still ROCKS! The cover looks like the early Britney, but Krystal is far from that lost soul. Take a listen and check out her vids on Yahoo! You will not be disappointed, unless you miss one of her concerts this summer....

5.0 out of 5 stars I would give this CD 100 stars!, February 12, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dying for a Heart (Audio CD)
I loved Krystal Meyers self titled CD, and this CD is even better! Here is my review!

Collide ~ 10/10 ~ Well, this starts off the CD with a BANG! I love this song! It starts out with a great guitar solo, and then when it hits the chorus, you say to yourself "WOW! This girl can sing!" And she's only eighteen!

Live ~ 10/10 ~ Well, after hearing the first one, this is another one of the rock songs, but not as upbeat as the previous. But, in the end, I liked this song better. Great lyrics, and by this time, I'm just adoring this CD!

The Beauty of Grace ~ 10,000,000,000/10 ~ OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! BEST ONE ON THE ALBUM!!!!!!!!! POWERFUL LYRICS, GREAT MELODY, THIS IS THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM!!! EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE KRYSTAL MEYERS, BUY THE CD FOR THIS SONG! IT'LL HIT YOU LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Situation ~ 10/10 ~ Another great song, with a rock edge. It's about waiting to have sex until you're married. Great lyrics, and this song really touches me, because my cousin went through something like this, and I really wish she would've thought before doing it. She was only 16.

Love Is On the Run ~ 10/10 ~ Another rock song, and I love it! Love the beat, great lyrics, and Krystal Meyers is doing a terrific job on the album so far! Let's see if she'll keep it up!

Only You Make Me Happy ~ 9/10 ~ Another really good song, the only problem I have with this song, is that it sounds really childish. I still love it and all, but she could've toned it up a notch. But I still love the song, and it has awesome lyrics!

Together ~ 8.5/10 ~ Not quite up to par with the rest of the songs, but this still is a great song, talking about how we need each other, and have build bridges instead of walls. Great lyrics, and I love the song, just not as much as some of the others!

Shake It Off ~ 10/10 ~ Love it! I always enjoy listening to this song, and it's a great song to dance to, but it also has wonderful lyrics. (Oh, did I tell you that Krystal writes all these? Pretty impressive, eh?)

Stand and Scream ~ 7/10 ~ The only letdown on the album. You listen to it in the beginning, and you think "Hey, this sounds pretty cool", but then it gets to the chorus, and it's is boring, to me. The lyrics still are terrific, I just think that the melody, is a little boring, at least, the chorus is.

Hallelujah ~ 10/10 ~ An absolutely perfect ending. Beautiful song and lyrics. I love this song.

Overall, I give this CD 10/10!!!! Krystal sings mostly rocky songs, so if you don't like that, I wouldn't buy it. But, if you do, buy this CD! You won't be disappointed! It's the new Avril Lavigne, except she's Christian, has better lyrics, better songs, and is just a thousand (no, million) times better! I love her, and you will to! I'd pick up both of her CDs if I were you!

4.0 out of 5 stars ..., October 6, 2006
This review is from: Dying for a Heart (Audio CD)
I didn't want to like this cd. After all, her prior album wasn't anything to write home about. It was actually rather terrible. No offence to her... but there is good female pop and there is bad female pop. And her first album, the self titled one, didn't sound like anything except a label finding a girl to try and catch the Kelly Clarkson craze wave. Which is understandable. That is what labels... particularly Christian lables... do.

I do have a soft spot for good female voices, pop or otherwise, which is why amid my quirky avant garde music I unabashadly sport albums by Sixpence None The Richer and the afore mentioned Kelly Clarkson. So when I recieved a pre-release of this album I stuck it in to see if she'd improved. I thought not.

But that is where preceptions come into play. Before I listened to the album I had been reading online that she was going more of an Underoath direction, which would create a much harder sounding album. And it would be more genre hopping to find an audience and cash in on a trend.

However, that first time I listened to it I didn't get anything close to Underoath. Which was a good thing from the point that the label wasn't totally using her as a puppet... but it did leave me a tad disoriented and chalked it up to the album not being good.

Well, I changed my tune several months later when the actual CD relesed and I decided on a whim, while bored at work, to listen to it again. I just put in on repeat and went about my business. About the third time through it hit me. This CD was actually very VERY good. Not quite perfection. Not anywhere near the best album of the year (looking at all genres, not pop)... but "Dying For A Heart" as an album is very well written and Krystal Meyers' voice is executed to a T.

I finally got totally sold on the album after deciding that if this was the newest Kelly Clarkson CD I would have been very happy. Nevermind the fact that riding the Clarkson wave was the label's intention when singing Krystal Meyers... this album is just very good. Recommended for fans of Clarkson and good pop music.

I bought this CD because I liked Krystal's first CD, but wow, "Dying for a Heart" was much better than even her first album!

Her voice is beautiful and unique and by the songs you can tell she has a passion for God.

You would think (as I did at first) that she would have more appeal to the younger group, but hey, I liked it! I think this CD will appeal to any generation. Enjoy!

It was inevitable that people would compare Krystal Meyers to Avril Lavigne, but honestly after listening to this cd (and listening and listening...) I have to say that Krystal is in a whole different leauge than Avril. She is exceptional on this 2nd album. I also reccomend checking out the video for "Beauty of Grace" its the best music video I've seen so far in 07 (in ANY genre!) Way to go Krystal!

Krystal Meyers is just a wonderful Christian singer. She sings rock songs, with great lyrics, and my favorites are "The Beauty of Grace", "Shake It Off", "The Situation", and "Live"! I'd buy this CD, because the girl can sing!

This CD is very good, and each one of the songs has a good message. I wish more of them started as Beauty of Grace does, slow, with piano as the lead instrument. Most of them start with drums, which I think can get irritating when I'm trying to wind down by listening to music.
This is a good CD to by a teenager who is feeling stepped on by the world and what they are hearing and seeing all over. I think Beauty of Grace is my favorite song because it talks about unconditional forgiveness, something that I think we all need to be reassured of every now and then.
I hope this review was helpful to you!
Buy it and enjoy!
~All for now~
P.S. The CD does come with lyrics printed on the inside, for those of you who like that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elvis Is Dead But Our King Is Alive...!, October 29, 2007
This review is from: Dying for a Heart (Audio CD)
...and so is Krystal! This album has such many great lyrics, so intelligent Christian rock! It's great to find an artist that can compete with Rebecca St. James. I think after two great albums she has really chances to make classic albums. You could say that it is almost impossible start thinking Avril Lavigne after you've heard Krystal's style and voice. But it is also true that many artists remind us of some others. The good thing is that many Krystal fans could recommend this for Avril Lavigne fans...I'm one of Avril Lavigne fan, you know. This album really rocks! "Collide" is such a rocking song - I think it's one of her best songs. "The Beauty of Grace" was the first song I heard from her. I was impressed right away! She has an amazing voice! Such a good message! "Love Is on the Run", "Stand And Scream" and "Only You Make Me Happy" are other very rocking songs. "Hallelujah" is a great closing ballad - actually it is the only ballad in this album. This album continues the same style as her self-titled debut album.
