As with just about every single other person, I did not like Dead Island. Which killed me, because on paper, it seemed perfect. Skyrim with zombies? What more do you need in life?! But I just did not care for it. To be completely fair, I never finished it, I only probably made it a quarter of the way through the game, but I just found it dull and lifeless. Dying Light has been a much better experience for me so far. I went into this game with little expectations, and have found myself having a lot of fun and enjoying myself immensely. I only got to play for about 2 hours or so, but here's what I found that I liked and disliked from those two hours.

- This one is kind of silly, but something that pleased me. When you look down, you actually see your legs. I don't know what it is, but it irks me to no end to play a first person shooter, and not be able to look down and see my legs. So small brownie points for that.
- As you bash away at zombie heads with your lead pipes, you can actually see them degrade. I like this. It gets more mangled, you see little pieces break off, and I think that just adds to the immersion of the game.
- The graphics are phenomenal. All these people talking about bad graphics on PC obviously don't have the rigs to run them, because the game is beautiful, but in particular the particle effects, the shadows, and the lighting. I was very impressed with it so far.
- It's a fairly solid PC port. I'm running it on a 4770 and a 970, and I can maintain a fairly steady 60 frames per second. There is some noticeable stuttering, but not anywhere near enough to stop me from playing the game, and I imagine that it will be patched within the coming weeks to run better.

Exceptional Game - Don't wait, don't think about it, don't waste time reading a bunch of other reviews. Click Add To Cart, and checkout - now. Seriously.

Edit: I realized a bit more detail is always more important than "just" enthusiasm. No offense meant here - I happened to be reading other reviews and another customer was blase about the game, and said Wolfenstein were better than Dying Light.

First: 2 different genre's - completely. This is a mission specific, non-linear adventure game, NOT an FPS. I played the new Wolfenstein, and it is also one of my current faves to play. In fact, is WAS my most recent 'go-to' game until I bought this. Both have great graphics and look awesome. I played through Wolfenstein in a few sessions though, and was very disappointed in it's length - or lack of. Don't get me wrong, it was fun while it lasted (which was not very long), but not as much fun the 2nd time through...

And, I think many would agree with me - that's a major issue these days with FPS games. Not since HL2 have we had a FPS that had more than a few hours of gameplay. I remember playing as Gordon Freeman for many, many hours, and thinking the game would never end. Those days are gone, and FPS games have become shamefully short, forcing players to play online to get any value for their $50+ Look no further than C.O.D. Advanced Warfare and even Ghosts. The SP campaigns are afterthoughts because most people are more into the online play. Many of us do not like playing against others in a free-for-all of fragging, and we feel like 2nd class gaming citizens. Personally, I like a deep, well crafted story in my games, and you do not get that anymore in the 'strictly' FPS games of today.

Where to start on this one... Below are my impressions on the game so far into my venture into Techland's new zombie game, Dying Light.

*DO NOT BUY ON STEAM - they are charging $60 for it currently, no idea why.*

*update 2/7/2015*
Please update your game before playing (should auto-update through Steam). They have come out with a big patch on 2/5 I believe that fixed quite a few things for me and a few people in my "clan". For AMD cpu users, it's been better optimized for us, finally. It wasn't laggy before, but there would be a few times were the draw distances would just demolish your FX6300/8300 series cpus. Co-op has been fixed for good as well. I had a buddy who couldn't join anyone's game without freezing, and no he can play with us without a hitch. There are still problem with zombies getting a hold of you though. If one gets to you, you will drop down to 1 FPS for a split second, it's happening on all CPU/GPU combos right now. Hopefully that's the next fix. Other than that small problem, the game is running great and is still extremely fun 15+ hours into it.

*update 2/3/2015*
The game keeps giving it's money worth. Some of the abilities you gradually unlock are just plain awesome. From head stomper (similar to Dead Island's version), to the drop kick, to repair help, etc. Co-op in this game runs mostly flawlessly, one of my buddies cannot play co-op at all for some reason. But the joining, the playing, the exploring with friends works great. This game keeps on giving it's value.

Game is worth $50. I got my physical copy at Bestbuy for PC - it has a Steam code inside of it.
