5.0 out of 5 stars Up there with Meshuggah
Too bad they are gone, but this album I would say gave Meshuggah a run for their money. The heavy riffs, the drumming, the time changes, are very comparable to Meshuggah's, not a copy because they had an identity of their own. I think they didn't fare as well as Meshuggah because of the vocals, which personally I like.

I hope they stayed together just to hear what they...

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but...
I haven't yet had the chance to hear "Weave the Apocalypse," so this is my first experiance with this legendary band. Well...there are some good points to this album, like some weird riffs, sweet solos and nice grooves, but this whole thing sounds a little too "core" to me. The vocals don't please me too much, but luckily I generally consider vocals...

The vocals don't please me too much, but luckily I generally consider vocals much less important than music. There's not enough thrash energy in it, and it seems as though they're just kind of cruising along in each song. Its much better than average, just based on the tight musicianship, but I think that they must have done much better.

I hope they stayed together just to hear what they would have come up next. If you like Meshuggah "Destroy Erase Improve," I highly recommend this album. Also, pick up Theory In Practice "Third Eye Function" and Martyr "Warp Zone" if you find them.

invocator does not follow anyone's footsteps. they walk where there is no footprints. all heavy metal bands should see this as an example.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice follow up to "Weave The Apocalypse", April 26, 1999

This review is from: Dying to Live (Audio CD)
While not quite as impacting a release as was "Weave The Apocalypse" (the band's second album)this is quite a heavy and enjoyable album. Invocator were in a tough position after "Weave The Apocalypse" since that album left nothing more to be desired! "Dying To Live" sees Invocator picking up essentially where they left off. While not quite as techinical as it's predecessor, "Dying To Live" focuses primarily on heaviness. Invocator are one of those rare power/thrash bands that actually take the time to write intelligent and catchy riffs. If you are curious about Invocator's music your first sampling should be "Weave The Apocalypse" which should, if you are a fan of well-played and HEAVY music, make you an instant fan. "Dying To Live" is a another good release on the band's resume.
