Book Description

Back cover text
Most people would agree that the cross is central to the Christian faith, but that doesn't mean we understand it. There is great mystery here; it staggers our comprehension and goes deeper than easy explanation. If we tell the truth, Jesus' death on the cross rises mind-bending, soul-stretching questions for everyone who searches for a meaningful faith: Why did Jesus die on the cross? What did his death accomplish? What real difference does the cross make in our lives, our world, and our relationship with God?

Christian believers claim that the cross is God's action to set right what has gone wrong in human life - to heal the estrangement in our relationships with God and with one another, and to restore wholeness to this sin-damaged creation. My prayer is that as we make our way toward the cross during the days of Lent, exploring the questions and answers together, we will discover God's power to transform our lives.
-adapted from the introduction

This seven-session study, appropriate for both group and individual use, provides one lesson for each week in Lent and one for Easter. A brief reading fro Good Friday in also included. Each lesson includes a Scripture reference, a brief reflection, questions for study or discussion, and a brief prayer.
