Book Description

In Cassidy's battle against human trafficking there are two choices: run or be captured.

Captured by the traffickers who killed her mother, Cassidy's only hope is Dr. Tattoo, a man she loves but nobody trusts. When she finally gets a chance to run, someone else she cares about is taken. Innocent families are being ripped apart and Cassidy must decide if she's brave enough to stop running and join the fight.

This must-read sequel to Dead Running will have you laughing, biting your nails, and hoping for more.

"Cami Checketts has done it again! Dying to Run is fast-paced and action packed with enough romantic moments to satisfy any romance junkie. It's a wonderful sequel to Dead Running and a really fun read."

Rachael Anderson, Author of The Reluctant Bachelorette

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Cami does a great job of grabbing the reader right from the get-go with a siege on the main character's home. Throw in an abduction, cross country run, hostage situation, and some explosives and you'll get a good idea of how this piece starts with action and doesn't stop until the very end."
E.M. Tippetts, author, Castles on the Sand
"Dying to Run is a fast read with plenty of action and humor sprinkled throughout. And what a perfect title! Whether you like to run or not, you'll enjoy this one!"
Lo Johnston, reviewer. Lojwriting.blogspot.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense, Action and Romance - Great mix January 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
(4.75 rating.) This story, and the action, picks up where Dead Running ended. Cassie's father is still fighting the slave traffickers. His self appointed body guard, Sham, stumbles into Cassie's home with the intent to protect her. But behind him come a group of the enemy, including one seeking vengeance against Cassie. She is captured and delivered to the leader of the traffickers and his main henchman - the men who killed her mother.

The enemy have met to coordinate the latest "shipment." They are awaiting the arrival of Cassie's dad who was to be lured there by none other than Dr. Tattoo, the man Cassie is drawn to but has yet to learn to trust.

Cassie is locked in a room, threatened by charming and ugly would-be rapists. As things look bleakest an escape is made and Cassie has a chance to run to freedom. But turning she realizes that someone else she loves will die. Will Cassie be able to forgive the man who planned the explosions to stop the enemy forces? How can she love a man who can kill so many?

This is a great sequel to wrap up Dead Running. (I won't say complete the story as there is the possibility of more danger in the future.) I can appreciate Cassie's sensitivity to killing but she is missing the reality that they are fighting a war and the man she loves is a warrior in that war, whether he likes it or not. I enjoyed the steady action-filled pace, the strong characters and the clean romance.

I read the first story and the sequel in two days and have added Ms. Checketts to my list of Romantic Suspense authors to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG, Cassidy's Adventure Continues... Book 2!!! June 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved the way the second part of Cassidy's adventure started. Suspenseful! And, the suspense continued on until the end. Also, my favorite characters were back! Cassidy-the funny and smart heroine, Nana, Sham, and Jesse (so cute:). Also, the mean guys reappeared, yikes! Finally, it seems the mystery does not end with the end of this story. You'll see/read :)... I totally love the series! Go Cassidy!!! *PG-13 level*

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense romantic suspense. January 9, 2013
Format:Paperback
After reading Dead Running, I was looking forward to reading the sequel, Dying the Run. And wow, I was not disappointed. The novella starts with a bang, literally, and doesn't let up to the end. You will want to read Dead Running first though otherwise you won't know what is going on or why Cassidy is in such danger to begin with. One thing that I enjoy about Checkett's books is that her characters and story have depth. Not only are they romantic thrillers (clean ones) but the issues being dealt with are heavy ones. Human trafficking, is murder ever justified, etc. What is one willing to do to save the innocent? Jesse and Cassidy must face those questions in this short story. If you like romantic suspense filled with ethical and personal dilemmas, I highly recommend this series. Note: because of the issues involved there is quite a bit of violence and an attempted rape.

5.0 out of 5 stars couldn't put it down! July 16, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My one complaint was that Dying to Run was too short!!! I wanted to keep reading. I expected it to be short since it was a novella, but I still wasn't happy that it ended. Obviously, as you can tell, I really loved this series.

This book was thrilling from beginning to end. My heart was pumping fast during the intense scenes. I was really worried for Cassidy a few times. I loved the feisty times from Nana's POV. The mixture of funny and serious was just right throughout. It also had a great love story that will make you swoon.

I can't say more since it was such a fast read, and I don't want to give anything away. Read it. You'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense! December 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Action-packed from start to finish. This story takes place 2 weeks after the first book, and covered only a short time span. But what a short intense time for Cassie and Jesse. The book starts out with a bang, and leads Cassie into the hands of murderous slave traffickers. I loved the physical drama, and then the emotional roller coaster Cassie's thrust onto when she learns more about Jesse's past. Intense! That's all I can say. Checkett's did it again...grabbed me by my collar and then didn't let me go until "The End." My only complaint is the story was too short. I loved it so much I wanted more. (I'm greedy like that)

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and Romance! March 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book along with the other two that complete the trilogy. Although I was disappointed in the length the of the 2 follow-up books it did help finish the story with a complete end. A suspenseful storyline that kept me reading more and more! I found that I wanted to read more about the enduring couple again and again.
