5.0 out of 5 stars Honest and Revealing
Loved the film. Honest and revealing look at the inner working of a Rock Legend on tour through the star-stuck eyes of Watson as he lives out his rock and rol dreams. The audience is along for the ride as Watson crosses paths with countless rock celebrities. Watson is so genuine that you don't have to be big Dylan fan to really enjoy the film. Story is engaging,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Groupiedom
Yes, Winston's kind of cute and tells a good story, imitating Dylan and cracking himself up. But you have to be a real groupie to like this. (I am, and I did.) But don't expect to see or hear Dylan, outside of a few soundless fan home movies on stage. Interesting tour and band stories, but so is Mickey Jones' home movies from the 1966 Tour. If you liked that, you'll like...

Excellent glimpse into the art and tour of Bob Dylan via one of his touring drummer's eyes. Watson very open and honest; insight into the world and speed of the musician's muse.

Just finished watching this. Very honest personable account of Winston's time on the "Slow Train". He comes across in a manner which is respectful of his former boss and very entertaining to listen to. Go Winston!

The drummer for Dylan is a trip. But I guess because of licensing, you won't see or hear Dylan much. Nice perspective from a drummer who wanted to play the tunes the way he had learned them off the albums. Dylan of course wants to play them differently each time he performs them. The drummer is now in a Dylan cover band where he can play the tunes the way they were on the albums.

At first I thought: "What am I looking at a film diary by a drummer I don't know for". Then when I started watching, the enthusiasm of Winston Watson drew me in and I couldn't stop watching. Loved it. The stories and anecdotes and what it was like to be on tour with Dylan was fascinating. Also got a kick out of Watson imitating Dylan dead-on. Would like to see him in Highway 61.

You do not have to be a hard-core Dylan fanatic to enjoy this quirky and endearing documentary. Anybody who loves classic rock music and ever fantasized of living a rock'n'roll lifestyle, surrounded by modern-day living legends, can certainly relate to Winston Watson's personal adventure. He reminds me of the main character in the movie "Almost Famous", where he must act as if he really belongs in this fantasy world, but, in reality, is just a star-struck fan at heart. BTW: I happen to be one of those hardcore Dylan fanatics, so the subject matter was of special interest to me. Be that as it may, I would suggest, don't be a kill-joy. Don't expect a thorough deconstruction of Dylan's art and meaning in popular culture. That's not what this documentary is about. Watch it from standpoint of that star-struck kid and allow yourself to go along for the ride.

3.0 out of 5 stars Modest documentary on drummer, January 11, 2010

As has been reported in reviews, Dylan appears only in silent shots of him and never in interaction with the drummer. I should think the film of quite modest interest for any but dedicated Dylan fans. I would advise those who are not quite so dedicated to watch only on the cheap, if at all, since they will be missing nothing surprising about Dylan. The life of a sideman can be quite interesing; this one doesn't rise to that level.
