Unfortunately Columbia stopped producing this so its unavailable when it comes to buying it on CD or off iTunes so buying it on vinyl is one of the only options. The vinyl came in great condition and even though its really a random selection of Bob Dylan songs they are truly something to behold. My personal favorite being Mr. Bojangles, which is a cover. Additionally, the back up vocals go very well with Bob Dylan's voice in this album. The back up vocals sound like a African American baptist choir or soemthing of that sort. Nevertheless, its a great album and quite a rarity.

I had never heard this album until before yesterday. The story is known of Columbia releasing this to spite Dylan for switching labels and when it came time to reissue his music (or even put it out on CD) Dylan requested this one not be among them. I recently got a new turntable and went vinyl hunting almost immediately for this album and found it.

The critics and Dylan hated this album. It got one star reviews from All Music Guide and Rolling Stone and I tend to think that's a pretty harsh review in itself. Yeah, it's a cover album basically but they all work in their own strange way. I mean I confess to being one of those "Dylan can do no wrong" folks. I liked pretty much every album he ever did and when I stumbled upon this one I felt no different. He brings his own style to these songs and it works. Even "Big Yellow Taxi" which is a song I have always disliked is given the Dylan treatment and I love it.

OK it's not "Blood on the Tracks" or "Blonde on Blonde" and you probably know that going into this one. But for what it is, it's enjoyable. I do however wonder, is the true reward finding it in a record shop over 40 years after it's release? Maybe it is an album that is best served being played on old vinyl instead of compact disc or MP3 download (which you can access on here). If it's an album that has interested you over the years, I recommend checking it out.
