When you own your own business for 30 years you learn how to do many things out of necessity. One of those things is placing labels on files, drawers, and much else so you don't have to search for two hours for one item. There are only two label companies I will use---and I own the largest Dymo Label machine and the largest Brother P-Touch machine. Why two? Simple. Dymo makes the only labels which have "Black type on a Gold foil background". They also have "Black type on a Silver foil background" . No other label maker offers this. That's why I purchased the item. The label-maker itself works by battery or with a battery eliminator (avail separate or included in some configurations). The only reason this gets 4 and not 5 stars? Because the printout machine does not automatically "cut" the label after it is printed. On the Brother Model (P-Touch) it is fully automated. (note: Brother does NOT have the Gold or Silver Foil background labels---but everything else they have, in fact may swing you). Lastly, both Dymo and Brother have auto shut-offs if you leave the units with the battery power on. I've not changed any battery in either product for nearly a year and I use both nearly every business day for one or two labels.
