5.0 out of 5 stars BE CAREFUL
This item is a great item that is fun and works out your arms so great that it feels like they will fall off. Although when i bought the item i thought that i was buying the highest end gyro ,Powerball Blue, with speeds of up to 18000rpm and 40lbs resistance. This is simply a cheaper gyro that they applied blue lights to and called the powerball blue since it only has...

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, not the most bang for the buck
As the title suggests, this thing works well for strengthening forearms and fingers and helping with climber/tennis/armwrestler elbow. The LED light is cool at first (useful as a nightlight) but annoying if you're trying to exercise inconspicuously. Some reviewers have referred to this powerball as a toy and I would tend to agree. This item is a great item that is fun and works out your arms so great that it feels like they will fall off. Although when i bought the item i thought that i was buying the highest end gyro ,Powerball Blue, with speeds of up to 18000rpm and 40lbs resistance. This is simply a cheaper gyro that they applied blue lights to and called the powerball blue since it only has 32-35 lbs resistance and speeds up to 13000rpm. So make sure you know what you are buying because it was a big mistake for me

It feels cheap and after a short while it starts to develop signs of wear like squeeking, rubbing, and just general friction-derived noises that also annoy. It's like buying a new bike that already has a bent rim, worn brakes, and bad bearings. This model is said to retail for $40, for this price I would definitely get an NSD brand powerball. They start at $25 and have much better quality gyros (smooth as silk). Take home message, this powerball will get the job done, just not with the quality you would expect and could get with a better powerball (www.nsdpowerballs.com).

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome small exercise machine, But don't get discouraged, January 5, 2007
Great product

There's no end to the number of activities that involve hand, wrist and arm movements. Golf, typing, boxing, baseball, basket ball, arm wrestling. I box and practice MMA, and I love this thing. It's basically a gyroscope inside a tiny ball, you start it, via the string it comes with, or with your hand (a bit difficult)

After reciving this product I went through many stages with it, I couldn't use it, then I loved it, then I disliked it, and now I love it again. This is because it takes a bit to get used to the movements involved in accelerating the gyroscope, but once you get the hang of it you can really get a good work out for your hand muscles, and your wrist, and also your arm. A full speed dynaflex has to be held to be believed.

However addicting, the string used to start the dynaflex will probably break before you manage to learn how to start it manually. The product comes with a mini CD that has a nice video explaining how to start and use it, and mentions that a manual starter can be purchased (but not available on amazon) But with a little snipping, any shoe lace can be used to start this neat little machine

It's like the nintendo Wii, I broke this machine's string because I was SO addicted to using it

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality and lack of customer service, January 5, 2008
By
I bought one after seeing a friends. Mine was very hard to spin up. Had to use a string pull to get it started. Then it started getting harder to keep going. Contacted dynaflex about replacement, service, advice etc. All I got was you must have abused, dropped etc. Very poor communication style with all caps and misspelled words on top of accusations I was responsible for the loss in performance.

I enjoyed using it the 30 - to 40 times I could keep it going.

A friends powerball pro with no lights is much easier to spin up and has been working for hundreds of spins. Maybe I got a lemon but the customer service experience was bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice work, October 27, 2006
So I got it today. All the people who said they couldn't get it to start, or that they have a lot of difficulty have some problems of some sort. I think the main problem is that they don't experiment, and like try to do the same thing over and over again, which obviously will not work. So I played around with it for about 5 min. After that time I was able to start it using the string and get it going to very good speeds, got some good time on it at that time. Tonight I played around with it for another 10 min so that I wouldn't have to take a string around with me. Now after about 10 more minutes time I can start it up at a success rate of about 80% by hand, no string, no special surface, just the ball in one hand and the other hand. Works well, can't say anything about long term effects, but I do know another pianist who uses one (we're really prone to hand and wrist injuries) and a martial arts guy who have both had good experiences with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great exercise and fun too!, October 11, 2005
45 seconds of this will tire the muscles in your forearm like nothing else. Especially useful for developing coordination in your non-dominant hand/arm. A great stress reducer in the office.

I bought this item to start training for bowling. It's been a couple of weeks of using the powerball, and still no bowling, but the powerball itself is amazing. My biceps, triceps, pectorals feels as if i've been working out a lot. You can use this while on the computer, altough is not easy to type with only one hand, while walking from work to the parking lot, or while watching tv.
The only thing, is that it's pretty hard to start it up without the attached string. I lost mine and using an adapted shoe lace to start it while i'm able to do it with only a finder or by hand.
I really would recommend getting the speed meter. I bought it later and is really nice and addictive, cause you always try to break your own record. Also you can use it to do comparative plays with friends.
Really recommend this.

This review is from: Dynaflex Power Ball With Red Lights (Sports)
1) Dynaflex is the best. It is totally new fun and experience
2) "Powerball" is the best of Dynaflex (generates the most pressure and requires the biggest effort)
3) The only other model you may want to get - it is the same "Powerball" with spead measurement display. It is optional though...
4) After I showed it in our office, couple of people purhcased it same day!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzle and Amaze Your Friends, April 4, 2006
I have been developing all those annoying symptoms of Carpal Tunnel over the last few years and 7 months ago did some research and ended up finding this little gizmo. Seemed pricey but much better than surgery so I gave it a try and after a few weeks the tingling and numbness was going away. I use it in the morning for a few minutes and have also taken it to work which gets a lot of attention. Highly recommended.
