First - full disclosure - I know Wayne and have seen his outstanding marching bands a number of times over the years. He certainly knows his topic extremely well and presents a detailed and comprehensive plan that will be of use to young marching band directors - in fact, directors with years of experience will probably learn a thing or two as well! This is an excellent resource for marching band directors and a book on the current state of the marching band art has been sorely needed for years! I recommend this book most highly!

Anyone who knows Mr Markworth knows that he is a master of his craft (running a high school band program). Growing up in Ohio and going to Miami University, I have seen his groups perform (as well as rehearse) numerous times and it is always an outstanding experience. Anyone who teaches high school band needs this book. If it helps you to become a fraction of the director that Mr Markworth is, then it's worth every penny.
