5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best book on yoga I have ever seen.
I would highly recommend this great book for any level of yoga study.
This is the best book on the subject I have ever seen.
It is easy to follow.
It also has diagrams not only for the different poses,
but a guide that easily shows the proper breathing techiques.

Go for it. It's the best value around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn Step-by-Step, You'll Use it Each Day, October 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dynamic Yoga (Paperback)
This is a really good book to refer to each day as you go about learning Ashtanga/power yoga. It's just page after page of very detailed photography of each pose, and most importantly "transitional moves"!! I finally learned the key to jumping back safely in and out of the vinyasa/flow sequence. For someone mid-30s, average health, average flexibility, this book makes a daunting type of yoga practice much more attainable.

There is little here about yoga philosophy, but what is there is straightforward. Good help with pronunciation and learning the Sanskrit versions of the asana names.

Good book overall. I now use it every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good One, August 31, 2004

This review is from: Dynamic Yoga (Paperback)
This is a great book if you are new to yoga and want to try a physically demanding routine. I've been living yoga for about 2 months now (I know it's just too little time) and this one really satisfied my need and curiosity on a more challenging yoga session. There are 3 secquences in here (30 minutes, 60 minutes & 90 minutes long) so you can adjust them to your timetable. The pics are very useful and show precisely what the posture should look like and includes step-by-step instructions on getting in and out of the posture. There are lots of useful tips on using props and varying the depth of the posture depending on your level. Let's point that this is not Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga (which is a bit more demanding but also less flexible on the length of the sequences and the postures you must include) but can actually be used as an introduction to more powerful types of yoga so you can later on try Ashtanga/Vinyasa.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Beginners, September 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dynamic Yoga (Paperback)
As a beginner in Yoga, with little time for a regular weekly session, I bought two books for beginners. Dynamic Yoga and also Power Yoga for Beginners. Both books are excellent but if I was only buying one I would choose Dynamic Yoga. The main reason being that it is better at describing the flow of movements from one pose to another. It also is better at describing the breathing sequences when doing the Sun Salutations. The only quibile is that it would be of great advantage if it was spiral bound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yoga, April 8, 2009

Great book that focuses on transitions. I had the pleasure of practicing with Kia during a recent visit to UC Davis. She's just as clear in person as in her book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on yoga I have ever seen..., November 30, 2008
By
This review is from: Dynamic Yoga (Paperback)
I have read lot of books on yoga, but I always thought that some thing very important and basic information was missing, and looking for the same in some other book. After reading Dynamic Yoga, I am really satisfied. This book tells very basics that some of the most experienced yoga teachers would not tell you. I have been practicing yoga for the past 3 years regularly, even though I was introduced to yoga over 15 years ago, my practice was not regular, but I always gained knowledge on yoga. In the past 3 years I had been looking for a sequence that would give me good energy for my day. I tried many sequences from many other teachers, books and videos. All of them either exhausting or not satisfied my need. The 60 minute sequence, is really excellent for me. I have not tried 90 minute sequence yet.

This book clearly explains each and every pose, how to move and how to breath for that pose. This book contains photos for the actual pose. In some situations as necessary, Kia explains the pose with proper comments, this is really helpful if you are practicing at home to correct your pose.

I would highly recommend this book for any beginner or intermediate yoga practitioner.

I would also recommend Rodney Yee's 10 Minute AM Energizer / PM De-stressor Yoga DVD for simple yoga stretches to relieve you from your day activity, it is also very good one.

Have lots of fun, love and laughter every day in every way,

Hari Emani
