This is the only book that I know of that actually focuses on the topic of security for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in existence! Unfortunately this is often a topic that is not always understood well enough by system designers and customizers. In enterprise CRM deployments it is a critical design aspect to be able to reveal only as much information as a knowledge worker needs in order to do their job while protecting critical and sensitive business data. Every business analyst worth their salt needs to understand the implications of business units, teams, security roles and privileges as part of a complete system design. Mitch's book is a great introduction to understanding that topic on a more meaningful level.

I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to better understand Microsoft Dynamics CRM security. Mitch does a great job of breaking down each security tool, including roles, teams, sharing, privacy, auditing, and makes them easy to understand. My favorite part is at the end where he has a very detailed role privilege definition--if you have ever asked "what privileges do I need to do X," this is the book for you.

Mitch did fantastic job writing this very helpful book. It is not only great for anyone planning an implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM but also if you are implementing the application for a client who needs a better understanding of the behind the scenes security of the CRM. It lays out, very nicely, what you need to know if you going to implement a multi-tenant CRM organization or want to use CRM Business Units to give your company the structure for companies with separate internal divisions or sales offices. The data relationship section of the book really simplifies the concept of how cascading relationship works and how to utilize and the impact of this when customizing CRM.

I bought the book to get me understand the CRM security. I thought the book will help me to learn both basic and advanced CRM Security. Unfortunately, it didn't help at all!
The book is very small and some pages are left blank. Some of them are spaced big time. The most importantly, the context is not that great either. It could be better, if I go MSDN, Microsoft sites, Google, and create my own printouts.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this book.
