2.0 out of 5 stars It's fun...for about five minutes
Arcade conversions usually aren't the best games out there, mainly because arcade games play by different rules. They're meant to be easy to pick up and able to hold onto your attention for a little while. But when they're brought to home consoles, they get old fast. And Dynamite Cop gets old very fast. You punch the bad guys with a variety of weapons for about...

I really like Dynamite Cop!

The game is a sort of a choose your-own-adventure, side-scrolling fighter. You've got to defeat the pirates and rescue the President's daughter. There are 3 missions - READ: 3 different ways to board the ship - and while they all eventually lead to the same ultimate confrontation, there is a good deal of variety depending on which entry route you choose.

There is actually a great deal of sophisticated moves - more than you'd think - like grabs that break bones in 13 different joints before you let go of an opponent, and when you've got your hand gun, you can arrest a perp, or even force them to empty their pockets for goodies.

There are also animated sequences periodically where you've got to hit the right button at the right time to succeed, and missing them is sometimes more fun than hitting them. Actually, this game is pretty funny - intentionally so

Yes, you CAN defeat each mission in about 20 minutes apiece, which at first really disappointed me, but there are a lot of extras, artwork to collect and hidden/alternate characters to unlock, and I've found replay value pretty high, especially with two players. If I could change one thing, I would make it longer.

Loads of fun with a friend (including a vs. mode). And survival mode is a challenge when playing solo.

I'm 24/m.

I've been playing this game with my buddy a for many years now, and it's still my favorite game for dreamcast. yes, it's short. yes, it's repetitive; but i've spent hours beating up the goofy-looking pirates with the odd assortment of weapons with my friend. as far as playing solo though, it does burn out rather quick. if you're looking for depth, probably not the game for you. but if you simply want to pummel some bad guys with a friend, spend the 10 bucks and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, December 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dynamite Cop (Video Game)
Its Short -- Really short... I would say the shortest game i have ever played. I was suprised. I would agree with a previous review that its worthy of a rental, but thats about it. Its fun for the whole 15 minutes it takes you to beat it. It has 0 replay value (to me anyway). Even if you get the detinator pak of the net, it adds a stungun (woo, big yip) and a new character and thats it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gives Puke Cravings, April 7, 2000
By A Customer

This game is one of those you buy for 4.99 at K-MART, UNFORTUNATELY IT WOULD STILL BE BAD. I hated the game though it has a good plot. I got it for Christmas, that day I woke up at nine in the morning. I played the game at ten and by 10:45 AM I beat the game. Short game, pointless to buy. Wait till it hits the stands for 4.99 then buy it.

Even though Dynamite Cop isn't a very long game it is a freakin awesome game whether you play single player or multi-player. I have to warn you though, the multi-player mode of this game is OMG BEST!!!

I have seen many reviews for this game, and most of them are based on crappy graphics and such. This is very addicting fun game! If you don't mind the old school graphics and you are looking for a good time beating people down with vaccums, dumbells, etc. then this is a game you must have for your dreamcast collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but SWEET!!!, June 15, 2004
This review is from: Dynamite Cop (Video Game)
Dynamite Cop is short but its FUN. Its even more of a blast with a friend or sibling. The graphics are good for this type of game and the sound is also cool. The choice of characters is decent (5 to be exact) and the action is fast and furious. The game has only 2 downfalls 1) Its short and 2) Basically easy. An option to adjust difficulty settings would have been fun.

Too bad thet there were not enough "beat em ups" for the Dreamcast because these are my favourite type of games. Dynamite Cop is apprecieated and is worth it if you like these kind of action games.

P.S.
The Presidents daughter is buck ugly!!! They could have brushed up on that aspect a little

Worthy of a rental, but that's about all it's worth. It only took me fifteen minutes to finish the game. Good graphics, but no replay value.

4.0 out of 5 stars This game only lasts for a very short time!, November 17, 1999

I quess I am kind of interested in the new Sega games becausethey are getting so real looking. This game is a real disappointment.I completed it in only 30 minutes! It's much to easy and it doesn't spark your imagination at all! I still don't understand how Sega could have approved of this game and let it be shipped to the market.

I do recommend Toy Commader, however. That is a really fun game to play. It also sparks your imagination. END

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game Play, Graphics not at Dreamcast Capasity, October 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dynamite Cop (Video Game)
I am an Employee of Softeware ECT. I got a demo to play of Dynamite Cop. It was an extreamely fun and addictive game. It is much like Die Hard Trilogy. However, the graphics are a little fuzzy and I don't believe that they are at Dreamcast's full capasity of 128 bit graphics. Each character you can fight with has their own unique fighting style, and each has a different background. There are a variety of weapons that you can find in the game, however some of them are a little bit unrealistic. For instance, on the second mission, you find this anti-missle rocket launcher, and when you shoot it, it creates this explosion that looks almost nuclear and it doesn't kill the enemies on impact everytime eather. In addition, you're not even hurt by it. Over all, I think it looks cool, and I can't wait to buy it.
