Gang of heroes, September 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dynamite Gang: The 367th Fighter Group in World War II (Paperback)
If you are interested in WWII and have NOT read this you are missing a saga that easily rivals Easy Company's exploits documented in 2001's "The Band of Brothers". These were kids, often barely old enough to graduate high school much less vote. They did things with their airplanes that the designers and engineers never thought possible. Buy the book, check out their web site and be thankful that they often led the attacks that liberated France, Germany and ultimately the world.

Better than fiction, October 7, 2008
This review is from: The Dynamite Gang: The 367th Fighter Group in World War II (Paperback)
This book uses good historical context and unusual detail about the experiences of a combat unit and contains great personal stories that are well worth reading.
I didn't discover this book until the late nineties, even though it sat on my mother's book shelf for many years. I wish my Dad had seen it but he was gone by the time it was published. He didn't tell me much about the war except that he loved the P-38. I had never read the account of his being shot down and escaping back to his unit in June 44, but it was all there in this book. He was Dwane Tjomsland and received a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. I had a chance to meet some of those guys at a 367th reunion. They are quiet heroes and treated me like a friend because they loved my dad.

"The Dynamite Gang", November 17, 2007
This review is from: The Dynamite Gang: The 367th Fighter Group in World War II (Paperback)
This is a day by day account of the 367th Fighter Group
From July 1943 training with P-39s in California, then to England training and then into combat with p-38s and finally finishing the war with p-47s.
Their major mission was to prevent the German Army from receiving supplies.
Many missions were at treetop level and lower.
Any pilot would be fascinated by these accounts.
