Incredibly under-appreciated!,

I found out about these guys based on a commercial. Specifically it was that Lexus Pebble Beach commercial that Kael Alden (of FPF) did through his commercial music production company Robot Repair. The music from that commercial sounded right up my alley so when I found this group was associated with the guy that did that, I decided they might be a good find. I tell this story to emphasize how difficult it is to find this band, which is a shame. But if you're here now, give yourself a pat on the back, you made it!
In this album, Irvine-based Faded Paper Figures has produced a very top quality indie pop music, heavily influenced by the likes of the Postal Service. The music is well-produced and catchy and the lyrics are clever... in all it has the right ingredients to be a popular album. Nevertheless, I've seen very little press for this group, leaving them somewhat unknown. So if you've managed to find your way to this page, do yourself a favor and give them a try. I've listened to this album quite literally over one hundred times and would definitely consider it one of my better musical purchases in recent memory. Throughout, my favorite tracks have remained Geneva's Gone and Metropolis.

Why is this not more popular?,

I'd never heard of this group before my wife got the CD off of cdbaby.com, but after listening to the songs a few times, I adore them! Their smooth electronic groove reminds me a bit of Zero 7 and Snow Patrol. By all means, listen for yourselves to their tracks, whether it's on CD Baby or MySpace or their own site (or Amazon if they ever add previews). I can't fathom why they aren't more popular. Surely they will be soon!

It's the next best thing. Since the Postal Service is not cranking out an album anytime soon, this band is there to feed your appetite. It's catchy, it's fun, maybe a little repetitive, but well worth it. Outstnading tracks are North, Metropolis and Polaroid Solution. Cute lyrics, lighthearted, smart music to share with the whole family.
