A journalist of both print and broadcast, Billie Rae Bates has been a professional writer and editor for two decades, including 10 years in the daily newspaper industry in Detroit; Saginaw, Mich.; and Wausau, Wis. She's written three novels, two of which are set in Detroit, as well as the BRBTV reference guides, which cover the primetime soaps "Dynasty" and "Dallas," the action-adventure hit "The Dukes of Hazzard," the daytime soap "Santa Barbara," and a host of animated and kids' series. Since 2006, she's kept up a news blog focusing on these classic TV shows, as well as other projects such as the yearlong photo essays "My Mother's Clothing" and "The Inexplicable Lives of Dolls." Billie Rae Bates has been a professional writer and editor for nearly two decades, including 10 years in the daily newspaper industry. She's written three novels, two set in Detroit, where she lived for seven years, and one set in the South, her home for five years. She's also the creator of the BRBTV series of fact books and reports, which cover the primetime soaps "Dynasty" and "Dallas," the action-adventure hit "The Dukes of Hazzard," the daytime soap "Santa Barbara," and a host of animated series. Since 2006, she's published a news blog focusing on these classic TV shows and their stars.

Billie Rae is also the creator of the yearlong photo essay project, My Mother's Clothing, launched in 2008 in memory of her mother and in honor of Billie Rae's own 40th birthday. She followed it up with a second yearlong photo essay project, The Inexplicable Lives of Dolls. Part history, part sociological study, and heavy on the whimsy, each of the two photo projects showcases 52 fresh, raw, unretouched photos, one per week, to comment on the world around us.

I bought this book because I liked the show in the 1980s. It's pretty comprehensive - big cast list, has the relatives of all the characters listed in their bios ... I got another copy for my cousin who's a big "Dynasty" fan. This one has quotes from teh stars, to. Worth the money.

Positive take on the show (not like the lame TV movie that was on recently). The Catfight Count (as this author call it) is pretty funny, and the writing elsewhere in the book is snappy and fresh. THe write-up on every episode (no episodes are missing) is long enough without being drawn out or boring. I enjoyed it. It's good to have while you're watching the episodes, especially if you missed a day. The show has been showing in my country for a while, and I think it's still on SoapNet in the U.S.

I was very pleased buying this book. For a Dynasty fan this gives a very good "to have on hand" overview on all the episodes - details on cast and crew... I really recommend this book: a must-have for Dynasty die-hards... :-)
