Paramount will be releasing "Dynasty-Season 6" on July 3rd, 2012 either in two separate DVD sets which will each house 15 episodes or a complete set featuring both sets with all 30 shows. In this first one the first 15 shows are introduced. The stories on these episodes include the arrival of The Colbys from California who would be spun-off on their own series, also called "The Colbys", Krystal being kidnapped and replaced by a nutty lookalike named Rita, and Alexis trying to win Blake back.

This season finished at a respectable #7 on the Nielsen Ratings. There are also no bonus features.

The 15 episodes included in this set, along with their airdates, are:

1. "The Aftermath", Sept. 25, 1985
2. "The Homecoming", Oct. 2, 1985
3. "The Californians", Oct. 9, 1985
4. "The Man", Oct. 16, 1985
5. "The Gown", Oct. 30, 1985

6. "The Titans-Part 2", Nov. 13, 1985, aired as a two hour show
7. "The Decision", Nov. 20, 1985
8. "The Proposal", Nov. 27, 1985
9. "The Close Call", Dec. 4, 1985

Finally, the sixth season of Dynasty is here for fans to enjoy. Of course we know that the fifth season ended on May 15, 1985 with the infamous Moldavian Massacre, leaving all of our favorite (and main) characters lying shot and seemingly lifeless. The cliffhanger was the most-talked about TV episode of any series during 1985 with a viewership of over 60 million Americans. In the spring of 1985, Dynasty ranked #1 in the Nielsen ratings with an average 25.0 rating.

The series resumed its sixth season on September 25, 1985 with "The Aftermath," which answered the cliffhanger. Only two characters with casualties died: Lady Ashley Mitchell (Ali MacGraw) and Luke Fuller (Billy Campbell). Everyone else is left with only minor wounds and survive. Due to contract disputes, pivotal actress Joan Collins as Alexis Dexter is absent from this episode, though her absence is explained through dialogue. Alexis returned, unharmed, in the next episode.

Several other things go on to happen in the first part of this season. Krystle is kidnapped and replaced in the Carrington household by a woman named Rita Lesley (also Linda Evans); Jeff leaves Denver to take part in Colby Enterprises in Los Angeles; a disturbed Fallon (now played by Emma Samms) is rediscovered with Jeff's cousin using the name Randall; Amanda and Prince Michael drift apart; Adam shockingly proposes and marries Claudia; and Alexis and Dex risks their lives to save a scheming King Galen from Moldavia. We also meet Caress Morell (Kate O'Mara), the devious younger sister of Alexis, who has just been released from prison and plans to write a tell-all book about her older sister.

As tension grows between Blake and the fake Krystle, Rita and Joel poison Blake, leaving him with heart failure.

In England the full season 6 was released & it currently goes for 11 pounds(about $19) so why is the price so high in the USA?? The show is great but my rating is for their high price!

For pure escapist fun, there is nothing quite like "Dynasty." In season 6, volume 1 (1985/86), the show does get a bit soapier with a few storylines that ask us to suspend all logic. That may bother some, but this is a soap and if you allow yourself to get sudsed up and carried away; you'll have one delightful & delicious time.

The main story is one that started in season five with Sammy Jo (Heather Locklear) recruiting Rita (Linda Evans) to get plastic surgery and play her Auntie Krystle (also Linda Evans) all so the nutty Sammy Jo can get her inheritance. Initially, I thought this story was preposterous; but Evans is incredibly good in the dual role and makes it so enjoyable. Rita's boyfriend Joel (George Hamilton) ends up as the mastermind of this scheme. Frankly, I didn't know Hamilton had it in him. He's very good & very creepy! Blake's (John Forsythe) scenes with Rita are particularly good. His frustration over his supposed wife's behavior leads to trouble.

As for the rest: We find out who survived the Moldavia massacre. Dex (Michael Nader) & Alexis (Joan Collins) fight over all things Moldavia and King Galen. Alexis is as wonderfully obnoxious as usual & makes me want to slap her until her wig falls off. Amanda is married & not happy. Dominique runs into an old flame but resists his advances & we don't know why. Stephen is coping with a loss. Alexis' sister, Caress(Kate O'Mara), shows up & is writing a tell-all. Jeff (John James) continues his search for Fallon (Emma Samms), who is running around with amnesia calling herself Randall. Adam is still a petulant brat trying to weasel his way back into Blake's will. And Claudia finds herself a Carrington again but is still as insecure as ever.
