If you're a gundam fan, this will be a really fun game for you. The single one important bad thing about this game is repetition.
The enemies soldiers don't provide a lot of fun; other than the fun of owning them. They'll just walk around and shoot their beams or bazooka at you. Even tho the bazookas can knock you down and are sometimes annoying, you'll basically feel that you're doing the same thing over and over again. However, some of the bosses, like the devil gundam, are really fun to fight against; and they provide a lot of challenges in higher difficulties. The story mode are fun to play, I played Athrun, Amuro, Char, Heero, etc to their max level and have unlocked everything. I enjoyed it greatly. However, other than their own personal story missions, they all share the same set of the extra missions. After their personal missions, you simply just repeat all of the other battles again and again, and everything will be unlocked. The many Musou abilities of different gundams are really fun to use. Even tho some of those fun abilities need an ally nearby or need a low hp level to use, you can use abilities to make tem activate all the time. For example, Wing zero's musou will shot 360 degrees several times, killing almost everything nearby.

I got the game for my grandson. All I can get out of him is that it's fun. I believe that is a glowing review from a 11 year old.

The game is pretty fun especially in the beginning. I personally liked Gundam Wing so my character of choice was Heero Yuy. You fight through fields of AI drones that generally get killed in a couple of hits. There is just something amazing about battling through hundreds of enemies, does make you feel like an elite pilot. Then you either take the field of a commander shows up to defend it. Down side is that's all the game really is. If you play through the campaign your mobile suit grows stronger and it does get a lot easier. After you play long enough it does get extremely repetitive. The story mode does provide some amusement but its still the same concept of concurring fields and tearing through drones.
So simply it's a lot of fun for a while then it really seems to get repetitive. Renting might be a better option unless you just like unlocking things because there is plenty of that.

Suit up! because Dynasty Warriors Gundam is back with its sequal Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. With ALOT more mobile suits than the last game, and an even deeper story mode with the adition of Chars Counterattack from both Amuro, and Chars prospective, this game is already as good as the last. The gameplay is still the same, but the graphics have gotten 10 times better than the last one. Theres also like I said, an addition of alot more mobile suits, minor (Geara Doga, Jegan, Zaku Tank etc), and main (Gundam F91, Freedom Strike Gundam, Destiny Gundam, V2 Gundam, and more). Story mode still has the same pilots such as Amuro, Char, Judau, & Kamille, but Chars counterattack is also available to unlock by beating char or amuro's story. Theres also cool cutscenes to look at by the way. Even when your one with story, theres a ton of other pilots to play with in mission mode, and you'll have to complete story, license, and all kinds of other missions, so this game should keep you busy for a while. Overall Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is hands down better than the first in every way. I can't wait for Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 featuring Gundam 00 to come out.

In all honesty I never really enjoyed the Dynasty Warriors games but when the first DW: Gundam came out I was totally thrilled, the second installment captivated me for hours when i first got my hands on it. I played this game on the Xbox 360 for a while until the system died AS I WAS PLAYING, so after some saving I switched to the PS3. This version is outstanding! The visuals are phenomenal and the gameplay is smooth, far superior to the 360 version. I have been playing this game since it came to me and I love every minute of it!

So-called professional reviewers love to hate the Dynasty Warriors series. Calling it repetitive and stale. I call it old fashioned arcade fun and a throw back to classic kung fu movies. As usual in a DW game, you play the lone warrior against a sea of countless enemies.
This time you are piloting a giant mech against other equally large (and sometimes larger) mechs. Giant robots fighting! How cool! The graphics on the Playstation 3 is certainly not pushing the hardware. But, that is not a real problem. The graphics are solid enough to pass inspection on my HD TV. Your mech is reflects its surroundings and explosions are well rendered. The "draw depth" is better that it was on PS2. It still is not as far out as it should be. Do not expect beautifully rendered environments. They are simply not there. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is not for everyone. The mechanics are too simple and streamlined for the hard core gaming crowd. The montony of hack-and-slash game play appeals to a specific kind of gamer. DW Gundam 2 is a lot like shampoo instructions, hack, slash and repeat. In-game dialogue is totally cheeseball. Think Kung Fu Theater funny. A definite throwback to the 1970s anime that this game is based on. And the backstories are just as laughable. All you need to know is DW Gundam 2 is all about the robots kicking the stuffing out of each other. There are various story modes available to players. There is some confusion to be made when navigating the menus. File tabs are not the same thing as mission tabs. Why are they there? Back story should be given in cut scenes. Not que cards. This does not help the presentation at all. Speaking of "flow," you cannot just hop into any mission string that appears to be open at the start. For example, in the mission mode, you cannot start playing any missions at all. What the hay?! You have to find the training mission in the open mission tab. This kills any sense of flow in navigating menus. Why not just have a tab titled "training" and have everything else subdued. Needless frustration. Unlike previous DW games, you do not need to wipe the map clean of enemies. You need to kill enough to take control of various fields. It is a little disorienting when the game tells you "it's okay to move on." The flow of a mission is ocassionally thrown off by the game changing your objectives. It is hard to plan where to be if the only guidance you are given at the beginning is "defeat enemy." I found myself clear across the map from where I needed to be in some missions. Giving players tactical objectives is a welcome addition to the DW series. Just give me a clearer battle plan out of the gate. Gundam fans will find a wide selection of mechs (Gundams?) to use and will enjoy the fan service. If you are a fan of previous Dynasty Warriors games, then you should try this game. I was not impressed by the last DW Gundam game. Just not enough there for me. I enjoyed DW Gundam 2 enough to consider it a worthwhile (if not guilty pleasure) addition to my gaming library. It changes enough from previous games to keep fans (and only fans) hooked. And besides, there are not a lot of choices on Playstation 3 for fans of anime and robots. No one will be impressed with the overall presentation. In fact, you will have to excuse a lot in order to enjoy what is good in DW Gundam 2. It is much easier to pick up and play this game, then one like Armored Core: For Answer. (And the title doesn't make you wonder what it means.) If you have never played a DW game before and enjoy manga, then give this one a try. DW Gundam 2 gets a 6.5 of 10.

I bought the original DW:gundam game and loved it because it was the 1st good gundam game on a next gen console (cross roads sucked) and the first one to have co-op. The fist game was great and then the second one came out.
Pros: New ploits and Mobile Suits A better Official mode. Bigger boss battles. Online and trophies Same controls. (if you played the first game you can jump right into this one with out looking at the manuel) Fixed bosting. (the first game forced you to keep on pressing the button to bost. Now you can just hold it.) Cons: 1.The "game over" problem - When you lose instead of offering you a "continue" or "retry" option it just asks you to save and then takes you back to the main screen as if they expect you to quit. 2.Attacks feel weaker - The charge and special attacks add a little ease to the game even if you were playing it in hard. The charge attacks helped you to get your special faster which in return helped you to beat fields and Enemies faster. Now The charge attacks only attack the 1 person infront of you instead of affecting the 3 + that could also be in the front as well. The special used to be great for "clearing" the field now it never seems to hit the mass amount of enemies that are in your line of sight. That in turn makes clearing the fields of enemies a much harder task. 3. AI - They didn't fix it. In the first game if a enemy was attacking a Key ally in a mission you would have to watch them otherwise they would attacking until they die causing you to fail. It made it even harder since they never healed, and you couldn't heal them. Also if you need to heal and they were in red you had to choose between losing the missing by having them die or by dying yourself. Same problem is here in the second game. If a key ally is in red they don't run and you can't heal them, so you have to win fast or lose. 4. Licenses - in the first game all you had to do is beat the character's story and you could use in mobile suit that you had at the time. Now you have earn it by working for it by doing License mission. 5. free camera - The exception here is in the giant boss battles in which case it is locked on them which makes it hard to look for boxes that contain hp or sp items. The free came is nice but when the enemy is behind you which he can get quite often you are forced to manully turn the camera around. In the first game you could fix this by using the "block" button and it would automatically face you in the direction you were facing. While the same hold true here (at a slower pace now) it is just another problem they needed to fix and didn't. It is still a great game, but if they do plan to do a thrid installment they should considering fixing the at least 3 of those key issues.
