5.0 out of 5 stars Not enough time in the day
I have been a fan of the Dynasty Series since DW3. My knowledge of Gundam prior to this game is absolutely zero. If you love the hack/slash, this is the mother of all. I like to numb-out and become a menace of destruction. I can't wait for the 3rd. I love the building of all the bots, I think its rad.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Dynasty of the Gundam, June 5, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (Video Game)
Length:: 1:08 Mins

For several years I have bought, owned, played and loved the Dynasty Warriors franchise. I love it's simplistic jump into the madness style of gaming, which can understandably get boring to some. Taking out legions of enemies with a massive sword never gets tiring. On the other hand I have also been a fan of Anime for years and the various Gundam Saga's are at the very top of my favorite's list. So this game should generally be a wet dream for me as it is a mix of two, shouldn't it?!?

Sadly it is not. But don't get me wrong this game is fun, it has the standard Dynasty Warriors style where you take on armies of enemy Gundam's all on your own with minimal help from NPC (non player characters) allies. The greatest and most thankful change is this game has a grand total of 62 playable Gundam's compared to the first games 19 playable Gundam's. Each Gundam has different attributes and weapons meaning a different fighting experience 62 times.

The all new Mission Mode has you searching for various items to upgrade your Gundam's or helping other Gundam's out to improve your relationship in game, or destroy them in order to create new rivalries. The Official Mode is just like in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam meaning it follows an engaging story line that tosses you into the front lines of galactic war fare. There is a Versus Mode but I haven't used it much seems pretty standard friend vs friends stuff. There is also a gallery with ALOT of information and amazing imagery for the games Gundam's.

The stages take place within the Universal Century timeline, covering the stories of Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZ and Char's Counterattack although they primarily follow an all original plot. Battles take place on various different planets and in space. Also the voice acting is top notch with some very good rendition's of the original characters from the Anime's.

All that said the game got boring very quickly. For a few hours I thought I was in heaven but then I realized the AI for the enemies is just weak. There is no real challenge here, even the bosses are push overs on the highest difficulty. Most of the enemies (and their are hundreds on screen at once) just stand around while a select few attack, this is rather boring, I would rather they all came at me furiously wanting to destroy me. This alone kills the experience and is honestly a real shame cause this game could have been amazing had the AI been more responsive.

The controls are kind of weak as well, they are very simplistic and easy to use it just seem's way to easy even for a Dynasty Warriors game. Hit one button once and you can take out anywhere from fifty to one hundred enemies with one attack.. Just a bit over kill in my opinion. Also I did notice that some of the larger (and yes their are some massive) Gundam's are far less detailed then their smaller counterparts.

All in all a great game, if you rent it. Fan's of Gundam will be impressed with the extremely varied selection of Gundam's and the close ties to the stories of the original animes. Dynasty Warrior fans however stick to the original series, it has far better AI compared to this game. Overall I was truly hoping this would be THE Gundam game to own as it's various cinematic videos before launch made it seem. However with this style of game the AI is EVERYTHING and the lack there of completely destroys the atmosphere. Truly a shame and hopefully the programmers will fix this massive issue if we get a third installment, otherwise this series has official been a failure of epic proportions.

With my review I include a video that showcases some in-game fighting and shows you just how lax the AI truly is. I will also upload a few Screenshots taken from around the web. I truly hope that my review helped you in your decision on whether or not this game is worth the full price. If so please click 'yes' below and thank you for reading. This review is from: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (Video Game)
first off, this game is TONS of fun. the dynasty warriors style of play works extremely well with the gundam characters and having the ability to raise your favorite pilot and put them in any mobile suit you choose means you can play really any way you want. the story mode is fun enough but the mission mode where you can play out story missions from any faction from the gundam series, incase you've ever wondered how heero yui would respond to working for char asnable here's one interpretation. the game does a great job of putting you in the action. if you're a fan of the dynasty warriors games or of the gundam series you'll love this game.

this being a sequel they have added giant mobile suits. enemies that dwarf you and that require your full attention even at max level. it's actually really cool to face them down and break them apart. i kinda wish they had added more gundams from gundam wing and g gundam but those are my favorite series. having domon is plenty fun for me.

now the combat system is alot more complete. there are different musou attacks for in the air or on the ground. different suits have different lengths of charges and different types of charges. it's interesting that while alotta suits have less, they aren't necisarily worse. overall the game is tons of fun and it's hard to find something i'd more recomend for a good co-op game.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is a game all fans of Gundam series would enjoy. This sequel have many features that is greatly improved from the first game series. The graphic is dramatically improved to give a more smoother textures, there are more playable mobile suits and pilots for players to enjoy, and lastly the cross over element for the featured Gundam series is very entertaining to watch as familiar pilots piloting our favorite suits fight each other in total mayham would put a smile on the face of any Gundam or Dynasty Warrior fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars great game, September 10, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (Video Game)
I have had this game for a few weeks now. The graphics are great, game play was at a decent degree of difficulty, and I can tell it's going to take many hours to complete. I have played it for 80 hours and I haven't made all that huge a dent in completion. I would have to say maybe a little less than half done. The mission mode it has is excellent. It has loads of different missions and outside of a few of them they are totally random. Which tends to leave for a better replay value. There is also many characters to choose from and each character has to complete their own set of missions. And over all that time I've played it, it hasn't locked up at all.

So overall a very good game.

I bought "Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2" for my son to add to his XBOX 360 game collection. He is a long-time fan of the Gundam series and has recently been searching in gamestores to find this latest game. It has become a popular item in our area and is hard to obtain. We were pleased to find it available online. The order was easy to place, and the shipment arrived in a only a few days. The game itself has great graphics, different storyline adventures, a large assortment of favorite characters to choose from, and extra-added customization for the mobile suits. My son has been very pleased with the purchase of this game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable. But room for improvement., April 27, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (Video Game)
Now I have played other Koei games in the past and wasnt really pleased with it all. I'm pretty sure it was the implement of a robot fantasy I gew up with as a kid. Now with as little spin as possible ere' we go.

Positives:
Customizable skills for each pilot. You do have to work for them by using different gundams to obtain them.
Collectible upgrades for your gundams. You obtain them through killing enemy robot hoards or through killing characters.
Countless missions and Gundams to unlock as well as more charcters.
Nice blend of several stories through out the franchises series.

Negatives:
Yes the game play will be repetative. Certian missions types may vary slightly, but all are done by the same function.
Missing some key characters from certian series. (Not to sure if this is correct since I know I havent unlocked everything.)

4.0 out of 5 stars A really long Gundam Game, July 5, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (Video Game)
I'd say that this game is much better than Dynasty Warriors Gundam. The reorganized Mission mode (formerly Original mode) and Official mode are much better. Although this game is really long; each playable character has plenty of missions (in Mission mode) which take awhile to complete them all. The only downsides are that Official mode only has characters from the Universal Century timeline. That and most of the characters in Mission mode are from the UC timeline. Every Gundam game always has more UC characters than any other timeline. When are they going to put more characters in a Gundam game that are from Gundam Wing or G Gundam? Even Gundam Seed would be nice.
