5.0 out of 5 stars The Dyondyne Experiment
What a great book, I loved (and hated some of) the characters immediately! Interesting plot that keeps you hooked until the very end, I couldn't put it down.....especially liked the "realness" of many of the Dyodyne characters, several times I thought, "I know someone just like that." Can't wait to see what happens next.....

1.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional story
This book is a wonderful read, full of information, excitement and so real that it is hard to separate the fact from the fiction. It has mystery, suspense, good guys and girls, bad guys, disasters and romance. Who could ask for anything more?

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Piece of Literary Dessert, June 24, 2009
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
Jim Doulgeris has produced in The Dyodyne Experiment a wonderful piece of literary dessert. The characters are dynamic and you quickly get interested in their lives. Plus, they are just plain fun to get to know. The plot moves along with just the right amount of detail and surprises. Jim also brings enough real-world scientific expertise to give this novel a good sense of plausibility like many of the great international intrigue/science fiction writers. I look forward to the sequel.

This is an extremely intelligent and well written novel. It is an exciting read and well worth the time. The detailed research and unique premise lend itself well to a novel of this genre. I enjoyed it thoroughly and offer it my highest recommendation. I cannot wait for the second installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dyodyne Delivers on Drama, Intrigue and Relevant Fiction, September 10, 2009
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
How far would you go to protect something you held precious? What if that 'thing' was the very thing that defined you? In The Dyodyne Experiment that is the question facing the President of The United and the government after a terrifying attack that no one saw coming. Brought to life by Doulgeris and Santoro, the book takes into the extreme steps taken in the name of protecting America---and how even the best of intentions can go horribly wrong.

The book takes you into the lives of the decision-makers and the decisions made in an effort to see how the unthinkable can happen right around us. It also gets to the heart of what can lead to action that can never be undone.

"With all due respect," says one character, "the American people want revenge, certainly, but they want protection from a repeat of this atrocity far more... (p.244)" It is by walking that tightrope that makes this a book that keeps you hanging on 'til the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Great Read!, September 9, 2009
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
After reading The Dyodyne Experiment, I was truly amazed; I did not expect to experience the possibilities of DNA tracking within a realistic plot, nor did I expect to be so entertained. Definitely movie material...

I love a great read, something that captivates me each evening until it's finished. In this case I couldn't put it down! And I love a fiction thriller that makes me think, something that during the day I can become immersed with questions and what-ifs.

The Dyodyne Experiment for me was truly that read, a blend between fascinating technology and horrific possibilities, a book that belongs somewhere on the shelf between Crichton and Clancy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book!!, July 3, 2010
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
This is a very good book with everything you would expect (and sometimes not) from a suspense novel. The characters were all very well crafted and could easily be people we all know and others that we are glad we dont know. I am looking forward to more from the authors and would suggest this book to anyone. I also think it says something about American's as a culture and our perserverance through conflict during our nations most trying times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced Thriller, November 26, 2009
By
Sandra Kirkland (High Point, North Carolina United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
James Doulgeris and V. Michael Santoro have created a vision of America in the near future. Hold onto your hats, as their vision is full of events that could happen but that all hope will not be our fate.

America, and New York City in particular, has been targeted again by America's enemies. This time the threat is multi-pronged. The Muslim terrorists that were responsible for the 9-11 terrorist attack have come up with a new plot. Hijacking an oil tanker, they have turned it into the biggest conventional bomb imaginable. They detonate it in the port of New York City, killing hundreds of thousands. In the meantime, North Korea has smuggled in six nuclear bombs, hidden around the country and are demanding the the United States ignore their takeover of South Korea. Both Russia and China are involved in the political manuverings that occur in the wake of these events.

The Dyodyne company, along with the military, is the best hope America has of confronting and defeating the terrorists. The company, under the guidance of Sarah Randall, has come up with a method of precisely locating and tracking terrorists. This is accomplished with the use of a virus that interacts with the person's DNA, turning them into a radio beacon that can be tracked anywhere. Sarah becomes romantically involved with Tim Hatcher, a career military man, who helps the team overcome the problem caused by depending on wireless phones, as he is an expert on satellite tracking. Together with diplomats and CIA operatives, they race against time to save America from her enemies.

This book is recommended for thriller readers. The action is fast and furious, and many readers will stay up late, desparate to read just one more chapter and see if the plot will be defeated before all is lost. The Dyodyne Experiment is a fast-paced thriller that will keep the reader glued to its pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is so amazing, I can't wait for the movie!!, September 13, 2009
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
The "Dyodyne Experiment" is a fast paced novel that is incredibly plausable and the writing style is so visual that it pulls you into the story and allows your imagination to take over. What I found most refreshing was that the authors were not promoting a political agenda, but rather provided real world current events and how real people would react to those events. The "Dyodyne Experiment" will tap into many of your emotions. Parts will make you cry, laugh, get angry and even cheer. It will also make you think while entertaining you. What I also found compelling was that such depth could be captured in such a fast paced story. I would not be surprised if this book ends up as a movie. I highly recommend this book and don't be surprised if you stay up all night because you want to see how it ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dyodyne Experiment - Intense and Plausible Fiction, September 9, 2009
By
This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
A week after closing the book, I am still "involved" in the intensity of events these very real fiction friends of mine experienced. Reading of the daunting pressure and responsibility of those involved in national security was overwhelming.

The Dyodyne Experiment was just that, an experiment -- like the swine flu vaccine today, not yet proven, both facing a threat so great they had to be pushed into use with a prayer.

Woven into the plot were a myriad of angles but I found the initial one to be a complicated and clever lead up to the heart of this story - a threaded plot that introduces the reader to the horror of being a pawn in a secret plan to "destroy the infidel." While knowing that he is expendable, he sacrifices himself for the safety of his family. The book forces us to look into the lives of those pathetic, trapped human beings working for an insane force and provides us an entirely different view of our true enemy.

If you enjoy a true-to-life, gripping story that is so plausible it stays with you for a week, pick up a copy of The Dyodyne Experiment.

1.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional story, November 11, 2009

This review is from: The Dyodyne Experiment (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful read, full of information, excitement and so real that it is hard to separate the fact from the fiction. It has mystery, suspense, good guys and girls, bad guys, disasters and romance. Who could ask for anything more?

Dyodyne Labs is a research facility in New Jersey with main offices in New York City. They have been working on a new technology that would secretly track people with amazing accuracy. It is a computer system that is so minuscule that it is invisible to the naked eye. The system with the code name DaNA is transmitted into a person's blood stream as a very mild virus that passes the virus on to all who come in contact with the host. The Federal Government realizes that this system is the ideal way to keep track of a criminal's known accomplices and bring down a local drug lord. But, when a terrorist attack obliterates most of New York City and surrounding burroughs and into New Jersey, the Department of Homeland Security jumps on the band wagon and orders the Lab scientists to use the untested (remember that word) system to find the persons responsible for the attack.

What they find is mind-boggling. It seems that there are six nuclear bombs hidden in six US cities and they are being controlled by a group that is part of a much larger worldly scheme. As the scientists race to track down the terrorists, they find that there may be another menace. The original system is altering itself and may become impossible to hold in check.

The Dyodyne Experiment had me from the first chapter. My thanks to the authors for making the scientific information easy to understand instead of using charts and graphs that a poor librarian like me couldn't fathom. It is said that all of us that were around at the time can remember exactly where we were when John F. Kennedy was shot and more recently when planes aimed at the Twin Towers. But, suppose there is something much more horrendous out there waiting for us. It reminded me a little of Michael Crichton's Jurrasic Park. It was supposed to be a theme park for all to enjoy but in mid-story it was discovered that the dinosaurs could breed. They weren't supposed to be able to do that because certain male DNA was left out of these humungous clones. But, frog DNA was used and apparently frogs have both male and female DNA. Sometimes it's not so good to fool with Mother Nature. But, all that aside. I really enjoyed reading the Dyodyne Experiment and am hoping that Mr. Doulgeris and Mr. Santoro will present a second book and let us know how everything worked out.
