Tragedies such as those at Littletown, Colorado are usually blamed on bad parenting. This book shows that many children and adults with episodic anger and rage have a biological disorder. Rose Wood shows how to understand and handle these children, adolescents and adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dysinhibition Syndrome, February 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Dysinhibition Syndrome: How to Handle Anger and Rage in Your Child or Spouse (Paperback)
The ideas and techniques in this book have helped me and many other families learn to cope with the disinhibited behaviors of neurologically impaired family members. I only wish I had this book 10 years ago. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped family members understand it no one's fault, July 2, 2000
By
This review is from: Dysinhibition Syndrome: How to Handle Anger and Rage in Your Child or Spouse (Paperback)
When parents are dealing with a chlid who has violent outbursts it is not uncommon for teachers, friends and even relatives to blame the parents. A situation like this can tear apart a family as blame is cast on parents who have struggled to do their very best to raise these exceptionally difficult children. It is like a double burden first doing everything to help the child and then constantly being told that it is your own fault!

This was the case in my own family. I was constantly saying it is not my fault. It is not my son's fault. It was nobody's fault. But at that point all I had to back that up was my own gut feeling.

Rose Wood's book Dysinhibition Syndrome was instrumental in helping relatives to understand that it was not my fault, I was not a lousy parent, my son has a chemical imbalance and needs medication, patience, understanding, and a very different approach to discipline.

Now blame has turned to understanding and the relatives are much more supportive. That support helps to lift the burden resulting in a double blessing.

Rose I can not thank you enough times for writing this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars A syndrome for everything..., March 18, 2007
This review is from: Dysinhibition Syndrome: How to Handle Anger and Rage in Your Child or Spouse (Paperback)
Sounds to me like more Liberal / Progressive pyschobabel. Dr. Spock has ruined this country. What these kids need are involved Fathers and paddling before its already too late and the parents are in this position. God has been taken out of the picture. This epidemic is the result of absent and/or uninvolved Fathers and a society that has embraced Nihilism for all its worth. Which ain't much. Don't be stupid and put your kids on drugs. Your simply "dumbing down" a child who probably has the potential to do great things. You probably neuter your male so they have a more "acceptable" personality, am I right? If you really want to help your kids, do it naturally. Mike Savage has is an expert on Childrens nutrition and is reprinting his book. Google to find his site and book.
