An upright & canister vacuum in one, April 27, 2003
This review is from: Dyson DC07 Low Reach Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
You can use the Dyson like a canister vacuum by pulling out the hose, reversing the wand, and attaching the floor tool. The little tools that come with the yellow Dyson are OK for chairs and window sills, but the so-called stair tool is too wimpy for wide stairs. For that you need the floor tool. You need the floor tool for vacuuming under chairs and tables too, because the upright doesn't go flat enough. The 17' hose, 35' power cord, top mounted carrying handle, and easy roll-about rear wheels, make the red Dyson with floor tool as good as any canister. Then simply snap the hose and handle back onto the body, and you have an upright. If you buy the yellow one, I highly recommend buying the floor tool too (it can be purchased separately). However, I don't think the extra tools that come with the purple one are worth the extra money. The only differences among the three Dysons are the colors, tools, and price. Suction is excellent with the Dyson upright. It picks up most dirt with one or two strokes. It's very well designed, easy to use, requires no assembly other than mounting the hose/handle combination, and is much lighter than it looks (because of the high-impact plastic construction). I was only disappointed by the noise level. Other reviewers kept praising how quiet it is, but it sounds like a vacuum to me. If you dislike housework as much as I do, get over the sticker-shock and buy a Dyson. It will do more with less effort. You won't have to run the vacuum over the same spot again and again, and you will vacuum less often because it picks up so much.

I love my Dyson, April 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dyson DC07 Low Reach Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I got my Dyson DC07 with floor tool only today but I just had to review it right away because it's awesome. I was hesitant to pay this amount for a vacuum but now would do it again. I have previously owned two lower-end bag vacuums and one Fantom bagless, have cream-colored carpets, a constantly shedding dog (dog hair), two small children (dirt), and a husband in the construction industry (lots more dirt). I loved the Fantom but after a year of use it started breaking continually and it just wasn't worth it anymore. As for the Dyson, of course it has great suction power; but I expected that in paying this price. What I was most blown away by was how well thought-out this machine is. -There's a handle for extremely easy carrying. -It's not as loud or heavy as I expected it to be at this performance level. -It's a breeze to empty the cannister and put it back. -It adjusts automatically to carpet height (and got my berber really clean- which my previous vacuums could not, even the Fantom). -It's easy to release the handle to start sweeping, and the handle goes all the way to the ground so I can get under/around things easier. -The hose and cord go on forever so I can sweep without changing outlets or sweeper positions as often. -I didn't even get the stair tool (used one that came with the vacuum) and it got my stairs unbelievably clean. -The tools it comes with are so easy to pop off and use, and yet so secure (they are stored in their own cubbies on the handle itself). If I had to name one thing that I think could be improved, it would be that at first it seems a little awkward to handle the Dyson hose. The Fantom hose was easier but it had a shorter hose, and clogged often. The Dyson hose seems sturdier and is definitely longer. I almost feel silly saying this because it sounds so overboard, but Dyson is a genius. Everything about this vacuum says "high end" to me and there is probably nothing I would change if I could. Why can't other vacuum companies make their vacuums this user-friendly?

AWESOME!!!, January 10, 2004
This review is from: Dyson DC07 Low Reach Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have four children and three labs, we have been through many vacuums. In one week I purchased a Lindhaus, an Oreck and this Dyson. The dyson out performed both the Oreck and the Lindhaus. We have old hardwood floors and some linoleum in the downstairs, and carpeting upstairs. My floors have never been so clean. The dyson sucks the dirt up from between the cracks in the hardwood. We can walk barefoot in the house now! Needless to say the other vacuums went back hastily. I even attatched the upholstry tool and vacuumed the dogs. A couple of days ago two of my daughters 2&3 yrs old dumped a whole bottle of baby powder every where, themselves, beds, toys etc. the whole upstairs was covered. This vacuum cleaned it all. I used it on the matresses and when I beat them there was no powder billowing out, impressive. I love this sweeper so much even if it blew up tomorrow I'd buy another right away. It is also easy to use and empty, if you get a clog it's very easy to remove, all parts snap away for easy access. I got a clog once from a hard stick, but I've sucked up dryer sheets, a baby sock and sliced cheese wrapers oh yea and a screw, the thing didn't even baulk!!!!Compared to others this one is quieter. well kids are in bed think I'll go vacuum!!!
