This lamp is good for doing certain things, most especially working on art, crafts or desk work, especially studying. The light is good and strong, and it allows me to continue my very intricate jewelry work into the dark hours, something my aging eyes had trouble with before. I wish, though, that the ad descriptions had been clear that the lamp really is too short for reading -- the reason I originally bought it. I suppose if you had a way to put it right behind your chair and didnt mind have a lamp RIGHT over your shoulder, it would work out if you weren't too tall. The other problem is that it's surprisingly poorly made. There's a piece of the lamp that hasn't "hung" where it's supposed to since day one. It's rather flimsily made, but I forgave that because it IS about half as much as other lamps of the type. So if you're looking for an inexpensive version of the full-spectrum lamp, and want to use it for working at a table or desk, go for it. If you want a reading lamp or a lamp to provide ambient light, look elsewhere.

Bought this light for my father...it helps him still be able to read....he is 88 years old and loves it...

This halogen sunlight lamp is one of the greatest purchases I have ever made. At 48" height with a large solid base, there is no danger of it tipping over and breaking, like the 6' tall halogen lamps do. I have my lamp right beside my favorite chair and I can adjust the swivel lighting unit to focus perfectly on the book I am reading or the project I am working on.

The Floor Sunlight Lamp performs as advertised and provides the perfect light for all of our craft projects and also provides a bright, pleasant atmosphere during the normally dreary winter weather.
