Don't waste your time on any other beginner rc helicopter-this one lives up to its hype. It is truly easy to fly right from the start. Prior to purchasing this micro- heli, i had purchased the syma fairy and the micro mosquito. at best, i could get those to fly in circles. then i bought the heli-max cx. not easy enough for a true neophyte like myself. i spent $200 on repairing that thing and never learned anything about rc helicopter flying as i would crash it every time i launched. frustrated and as a last hope (before hanging it up), i purchased this heli- i have been flying since. if you get in trouble you just let go and it hovers- nice! and it really is a durable heli- i have crashed that thing about 20 times so far and not a scratch. this has to be the best beginner heli for those who need to learn the basics. i think that i will stick with this company as i progress in my skill level and purchase more expensive helicopters. My only regret is that i did not buy this unit first- would have saved plenty of money.

I'm a adult male and have been interested in RC models for some time. I have had limited success with RC aircraft in the past (lets really say - no success [but lots of crashes and lost units]). Walking through a mall the other day, I was intrigued by the "toy helicopters" being flown at kiosks. That said, I wanted to do some research prior to getting one.Research: you can buy toy grade (in the mall kiosks) or go with hobby grade micro helicopters. This is definitely hobby grade. What's the difference? The hobby units tend to be 4 Ch (versus 2 or 3), contain an on-board gyro (for stability), and - most importantly, are repairable. This unit has all of the above. The 4 control channels provide lift (up/down), pitch (forward/back), yaw (point nose left/right), and roll (rotate-slide left/right). This unit is extremely stable in flight due to the on board gyro. The unit is also very straight forward from a construction point of view and all the parts can be purchased if/when needed for repairs - and you will eventually need to repair. Included in the box was a few parts likely to be needed (rotors, etc.). While picking this up in the hobby store, my research was confirmed when another customer said - I wish I did this the first time, my son and I went through 4 of the mall (toy) units before we went to a hobby unit so we could fix them. First flight: after a quick charge, lift off - very stable. A few quick trims on the controller had this in stable hover with out any motion. As with all RC, it takes time to acclimate to the controllers. The controller has two modes - standard and reduced. The reduced is great for first flights and learning - it lessons the impact motion on the stick has on the flight to slow things down. This is exactly how you should flight the fist few times - slow and steady. That said, this bird still crashed a number of times and was no worse the wear. Simply recovered, restarted, and up she when. The guy at the hobby store told me if you ever get out of control - just kill the throttle and let it fall - it'll be OK. By the second flight, we were flying larger circles through the kitchen/dining area around objects (lights). Oh what fun!!! I've actually flown an RC aircraft without having to go to a field and be educated and trained. This is exactly what I needed. Must adds: batteries and an AC charger. Flight time is only ~5 minutes, then the battery needs to cool down (~ 20 min) and then be recharged (~30-40 minutes). Get extras and an AC charger to increase your flight time. Enjoy!!

I purchased this as my very first helicopter. I can't say enough good things about it. It was easy to learn, very stable, withstood all my crashes, etc. Spare parts are inexpensive and easy to find on line or at any local hobby store. With all my learning and crashes, I only had one $3 part break that I had to replace. If you are looking for a great first helicopter, look no further. After purchasing this one, I also bought the (older) yellow MCX. They are roughly similar, although my MCX S300 is definitely faster in forward flight, and spins around faster, than my regular MCX. I'm hoping to step up to the Blade MSR as my next helicopter after perfecting my flying skills with the MCX S300. I give it my highest recommendation for someone looking for a fun and easy way to get into the hobby.

The manual states that it's not a toy, however, I'm 50, and this feels like the best toy I've ever owned. This was my first RC anything, and I'm so glad I waited for this copter to be invented. I'm starting to think that it's indistructable. This little heli has bounced off the ceiling, poles, walls, and anything else in my house. You just pick it up, turn it upright, and your off flying again. I do suggest buying a couple extra batteries right away, so you don't have to much down time between flights. I have 3 so I can keep flying. I wish they made stuff like this when I was younger, we didn't even have pocket calculators.

I'll admit...I spend way too much time researching the things I want to buy. Currently this is in the mail for one reason...Complete consensus among everyone that this helicopter is amazing. I have watched 20+ videos and read at least that many reviews on this product and everyone loves it. From what I can gather...The e-flite blade mcx is the most reliable and best micro heli to learn on...bar none! The mcx s300 is the exact same heli with a new body...the Schweitzer 300C body is a scale body of a real helicopter (why? adds interest to devoted hobbyists...and gives another body option for those who dislike the attack/aggressive heli appearance)This heli is definitely hobby grade (fixable, better quality, flies better, etc). Through researching I have found that this far exceeds the picoo z and havoc helicopters. This is also a step up from the new Syma S008 (also a good micro copter). This heli falls amongst the cheaper end of hobby/entry level helicopters...but offers tremendous possibilities and a perfect way to learn and introduce yourself to rc helicopters. This heli is for beginners. The seasoned fliers will still find this amusing for indoor...but if micro helicopters appeal to you...go for the e-flite blade MSR...sick little micro that is the same size as the MCX, but is a single rotor and wild! Check it out on youtube...it will most definitely be my stepping stone to the big leagues after the MCX is mastered. But as for the MCX...great first heli...not many things I research to buy come out with an entirely positive report...I can't wait to get this!!

After many hours of research I settled on the Blade mCX as my first heli. This has to be the most amusing thing I have ever purchased. By the end of the first charge I was very confident flying it. Controls are very good and only minor trimming is required. It is extremely durable, having survived dozens of crashes in the week since I have had it without a single part breaking. It comes with an extra set of blades and stickers that let you customize it. Everyone who has seen it is absolutely amazed and wants one for themselves, so I am ordering several more as gifts for the holidays. All I can say is to buy some extra batteries, you will not want to put this thing down!

Wow. I'm like many people on here that putzed around with cheapo 20-40 dollar micro copters and felt burnt every time. I thought perhaps there wasn't any way to make the damn things worth a hoot....and then I read up on this baby. I took the plunge, (and at over a 100 smacks it FELT like a plunge) but it is soooooo worth it. I'm telling you that DO NOT waste your money on anything else, if you want to dip your toes in the RC micro heli world...this is it. It was like I read, a joy right out of the box. I had to trim it a bit, but when it first hovered for me and then the fact that I could make it move back and forth and SIDEWAYS?!! forgetaboutit! At the point I ordered this I would have honestly just been happy if I could get it to hover in one place. The only bad thing is now I know I'm going to spend some more cash down the line to get the more advance copters from these guys. Nice workmanship!

This thing flys really well, a pleasant surprise after wasting money on the cheap junk that doesn't work at all. I'm going to practice for a while then upgrade to the next size up for sure. All required batteries are included, that's a nice change. True RTF package. It's mostly self explanatory but it was worth paging through the instructions. One good tip was to press the right stick down to switch into low rate mode for learning. This little helicopter is amazingly durable. You can fly it into a wall at full speed and it's just fine. The frame and power shaft are made of carbon fiber. Battery life of the copter is a pretty weak with only 110mah, buy a couple of extra batts. It has plenty of power, I might modify it to carry two in parallel. There are all sorts of aftermarket mods that can add to the fun. I can't get over what a good product this is! I'd give it a 10. ========================================================================== 2 week update: This copter is amazing. The punishment it can take is phenomenal. After at least 100 crashes that I thought would kill the little heli for sure, I managed to break the little ball joint that holds the counter weights to the upper blade. To my pleasant surprise, I noticed there was an unused ball joint on the opposite blade--just had to switch the left and right blades with the included screwdriver--off and flying. Great design! The design is so inherently good that the more beat up it gets, the happier it gets. If you put a paper clip under the nose, it moves plenty fast to get you into trouble. Really fun. ========================================================================== 6 week update: I've got a few other Blade helicopters now, including two more MCXs, the MSR, and Blade 400. I have to say the MCX is still my favorite just to fly and have fun. Yeah, they can't do any crazy maneuvers, but they move plenty fast for the recreational flyer and the perfect control is uncanny. Now I'm running them off the DX6i radio that came with the Blade 400, and it has taken my appreciation of these mini machines to a whole new level of wow. The DX6i transmitter allows super-fine adjustments (way better than the stock transmitter, which works fine) and these little heli's respond to the nanometer. You can easily trim it to a picture perfect neutral stick hover, and it sticks in calm air like it's sitting on a table. Control and response is phenomenal. When got my first MCX, I had never flown an RC heli before and it was challenging to land on the bed. After several weeks of practice and now using the DX6i, trying to land on two pencil lines traced under the skids is a joy. I can't recommend this little heli enough for beginners and also for experienced pilots with an appreciation for absolute precision, especially when coupled with a better transmitter.

This is the second helicopter I have owned, but I have flown a few others to try them out. For a beginner RC pilot, there is nothing better. The heli is relatively durable for it's size. If something does break, the parts are quite inexpensive and easy to replace. Everyone with any interest in rc flight needs to get one of these.

The Blade mCX S300 RTF lives up to it hype. I received this helicopter, took it out of the box and it was ready to fly. This is the first time I have flown an RC Helicoter and it was great! It takes a little to get all the trims set correctly but after just a few flights I have become much more proficient at hovering and pin point landings. Its durability is awesome. The first couple of times I would increase the power too much and crash into things. No worries though just pick it up and put it on its skids and take off again. One time I hit the ceiling pretty hard and killed the power to quick so it dropped to the floor pretty hard. The rotors did not want to turn and I was worried I had really done it. I took it back into my office to see what might have happened. I was able to take this completely apart and reassemble without any issues. TW the issue was the bounce on the floor was so hard that the rod that turns the gear for the top rotor had slid down and was making contact with the lower rotor gear. These two gears turn in opposite directions, so a quick adjustment was made and it was back to flying. Only negative is I which it would fly longer on a single charge. You just start getting into it and you have to recharge the battery. I get about 10 to 12 minutes of good flying in before the charge drops enough that it will not maintain flight. This is not a big deal though because the battery recharges quickly and in no time you can be flying again. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into flying RC Helicopters...Great product!!! |
