Bravissimo!,
This review is from: E2 (Spanish) (Audio CD)
I discovered Eros only ten years ago, but I think that's a blessing in disguise. I've listened intently to the music arrangements in a way I wouldn't have if I had learnt about him earlier. For anyone who has no idea of this man's wonderful talent as a singer/songwriter, this album is the perfect introduction, with a list of only some of his many hits, four new songs, and some of his music videos. But what I love the most about e2 is disc b, which contains his songs that have been re-imagined in so many rich ways. Eros and Claudio Guidetti have already done great work in producing varying musical arrangements in all of his studio albums; this kicks it up so many notches! This is not just a random compilation; it's a beautifully crafted project that stands as a testament to his talent and dedication to whatever he does. Comparing his voice in the original Adesso Tu (disc a) and the rearranged version (disc b), you have to admire the depth and maturity his voice has acquired over the years. If you can spare the time to study the lyrics, you'll see great depth in the words of his songs, even those from his earlier works. This man is after the hearts of whoever listens. I know Photoshop probably had a hand in the album cover, but it can only do so much. This man is smoking hot for a 44-year-old! The down side to it is that even with three discs, some of my favourite songs didn't make it into the album: Canzone Per Lei (never fails to make me cry), Piccola Pietra, Tu Sei, Non E Amore, Il Mio Amore Per Te, Amica Donna Mia, Stella Gemella... The Eros Ramazzotti/Claudio Guidetti partnership is one of the best in the music industry that I hope will continue for many more years to come. Piu grande!

We Love Eros in the U. S.!!!,

This review is from: E2 (Italian) (Audio CD)
Well, if this fantastic compilation doesn't bring Eros front and center in the US, then nothing will. Maybe if he goes on American Idol or does a few stints in rehab, he can reach the success levels of the commercial stars of today. Then again, here's to hoping he continues to care less about whether the US latches on to his music. We like him better that way.His music has touched my family, my children, who sing all of his songs fluently, while we don't even speak Italian (we are learning though, thanks to Eros). His music has a real, sincere, melodic feel no matter what type of song it is. Fuoco nel Fuoco is fantastic anyway, and even better with Carlos Santana. Un'Emozione per Sempre with the Chieftains is enchanting also. Listening to his music and his voice mature from CD 1 to CD 2 is as interesting and exciting as the Steve Vai appearance on Dove C'E' Musica. Buy the ROMA Live CD also. Go ahead, watch it and try not to become a fan. Eros, this family in Connecticut is ready to travel wherever and whenever you decide to tour for this record. Thank you for staying true to your style and your music. This collection is truly spectacular.

not the usual greatest hits album,
By
This review is from: E2 (Italian) (Audio CD)
Wow, e2 is not your usual greatest hits album, for sure. If you enjoy Eros Ramazzotti's music but hesitate to buy e2 as it looks on the surface like a recycling of old hits, don't hesitate further as it is not at all as it may appear. If you are new to Eros, this album is a fine introduction to his music. I own most of his prior albums and am certain this one will be a favorite of mine.Disc one is loaded with many past hit songs such as his duets with Cher and Tina Turner but kicks off with the catchy new duet with Ricky Martin, "We are not alone (Non siamo soli)". The festive beat of that one makes me want to go out and dance in the streets of Miami. He also reaches way back to 1986 for disc 1 to bring in two songs from his New Heroes (Nuovi Eroi) album that demonstrate nicely the development of his signature falsetto tone. Buy it and you'll find the songs I refer to. But the second disc is the real jewel here. The reworking of old favorites brings new life to these songs. The disc starts with a series of three songs done with the London Session Orchestra and guest musicians. These songs are wonderful renditions. Eros' vocal strength in "Music is (Musica E')", which he performs solo for a change, will blow you away particularly with the powerful backing of the orchestra. The disc continues with more of his old hits that have been stripped down to the essence and built back again, making them fresh once more. "Lovely (Dolce) Barbara" is, well, lovely; Eros performing alone with the piano. This new version of "Things of Life (Cose della vita)" totally rocks and won't disappoint at all when compared to the red-hot version with Tina Turner. The duet version with Tina shows up on disc 1 of this collection anyway, so what more could we ask for? Well, Eros gives us so much more here. You will hardly recognize "Something more beautiful (Piu' bella cosa)" or "Where there is music (Dove c'e musica)" with these new amped up versions. And what a treat to hear Eros Ramazzotti hooked up with guitar legend Carlos Santana for a fantastic re-make of "Fire in fire (Fuoco nel fuoco)". That song alone is worth the cost of the entire album to me. Wait until you hear the surprisingly different re-makes of "A moment of peace (Un attimo di pace)" and "An everlasting emotion (Un' emozione per sempre)" from 9! Disc 2 closes with a remake of "November is passing (Sta passando Novembre)" sang in Spanish that is as compelling as the version appearing on Appearing Calm (Calma Apparente)- it was one of my favorites from the Appearing Calm album along with his duet with Anastasia (also included without remix on disc 1 of e2). e2 brings out some new dimensions in Eros' music and I'm very pleased to own it. I believe that any fan of the man's music will surely agree.

Trust Your Ears,

Unlike the Pet Shop Boys' recent live album "Concrete", the orchestral versions on this release don't really do much for Eros Ramazzotti, who is way more accomplished than even his stellar European career suggests. Why does this major singer pair with such minor artists? Apart from the kitschy orchestrations of "Musica E" and "Adesso Tu" on disc B, though, some of the new guitar tracks are inspired, adding another layer to favorites. The real find here is the first two songs on disc A: First we get mature Eros overpowering the middling Ricky Martin with practiced technique and pure energy on "Non Siamo Soli", and then the classic early song, "Terra Promessa", in which a young Eros is just discovering his talent, making up for experience with astonishing conviction and sincerity. 23 years have passed in the meantime, and the timewarp is palpable, beautiful, and not to missed. Trust your ears on this one, especially if you're new to his music.

From Eros to Ramazzotti,

It is a must not only if you are an Eros fan, but also if you like Italian pop music. If you don't know deeply this extraordinary singer and WRITER, this is the best option. You can find in disc A some of his best original songs (not all the best) with the originall Eros feeling, then you'll find the evolution of a real artist in voice, arrangements and writing. Disc B is just a sorprise, you'll find that a great song can be said in other wonderfull way, from clasic to electronic pop, from salsa to rock. In disc C you'll remember in video how times goes by, some of these videos have been directed from famous movie directors and all are of an extraordinary production.

Buy it. Eros Never disappoints,

I "tripped" over Eros 6 years ago on a duet with Bocelli on "Sogno" CD which I still think is one of my favorite Eros songs. I buy everything he comes out with and he's always experimenting with mixes of his songs with different artists. Most are well known and respected outside the US, but we US music snobs feel that the only good music is invented here.I wouldn't buy this as your first Eros CD if you don't own any of his previous discs (Personally "9" is one disc I think always sounds fresh and edgy). There are a few duds on this, but overall it's worth adding to your Eros collection.

Truly an amazing work of art (must have for Eros' fans),

Eros Ramazzotti is without any doubt one of the best italian singers ever, and probably the most succesful in the crossover to spanish. When you see a greatest hits albums, you think it's a recycling of old hit and a few new songs, but this copilation is extraordinary.Disc 1 has the classic hits that have made Eros the true italian star of music. Old hits such as "La Cosa Mas Bella", "Cosas de la Vida", and "Si Bastacen Un Par de Canciones" are found on this disc. The new duet with Ricky Martin is amazing, but out of the new four songs, the one that is really heart touching is "Donde se Esconden Los Angeles". Disc 2 is what makes the CD be worth your money. Instead of throwing more old hits, the songs that we love have been remade and received great arrangements. La Cosa Mas Bella sounds even greater with the sound of Joh Shanks, as well as Cosas de la Vida. Fuego en en Fuego takes another level when you hear Santana's guitar. The songs with GianPiero Reverberi are truly beautiful, especially "Solo Ayer" and "Ahora Tu". Even songs that weren't big hits such as "Un Atardecer Violento" and "Las Cosas que he Visto" sound incredible. But the song "Esta Pasando Noviembre" with Amaia Montero is Eros' best duet in spanish ever. If you are an Eros fan, don't hesitate and get this masterpiece right away. But if you're not familiar with Eros's music, then this is the right CD to introduce yourself to an unforgettable and amazing voice, plus his fantastic music will make you feel all kinds of emotions. Gracias Eros for your music!

This is an outstanding compilation!! Although there are four brand new songs, all of the others will be familiar to Eros's fans. But the new arrangements of old favorites and the guest artists who perform with Eros on many of these songs truly justify buying this new 2-disc compilation. If you are an Eros fan, you will definitely want to own this collection. If you are new to Eros or if you're looking for some outstanding Italian pop music, this would be a great compilation to start with. There are so many wonderful songs here, and Eros is a unique and amazing singer. Buy E2 and ENJOY!!!

Fresh new sound and old versions of his classic songs in one package,
By Edgar Duarte "Edgar" (Guatemala) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E2 (Italian) (Audio CD)
I am an Eros fan myself. I loved the inedit new songs and the revisited new versions of his previous hits sounded fresh and interesting. I just do not think that it is fair that they made me pay for a two CD set. Almost all of the songs of one of the CDs were the same old versions of the classic eros songs I have been listening to for years.I think that Eros need to think on realising brand new material and not try to resell the same music to the people that have been his followers since he started.

This is a great sort of best-of album. The only problem was my own stupidity. I didn't realize it was in Spanish when I ordered. I expected Italian. I think his music's slightly better in Italian, but I still love these versions. He also invites other artists into duets, so some of the arrangements are unusual. Some were new to this album, I believe, and I like them too.
